UC, you got it all exactly as I see it. (Mom drove them crazy with her JW zealousness, Dad is such an ass.)
But also, we know that JW's will be found to be JWing everything.
Anything in the news is "proof that WTS is right" or "an example that the world is immoral" or "persecution from Satan to JW's."
How could the JW family not take this "opportunity" to witness to non-JW family? Getting Janet or LaToya or anyone to join the flock
would be the same as any of our families hope for us.

That's why a family member gave the talk not a brother from Rebbie's or Katherine's congregations.
Strange that the parents were not there. You would think the mother would attend the jw version rather than the public one with Rev. this and Rev. that.
I don't think this family is as close as they like to put on.
It would be a mistake to assume that celebrity dubs live the same life as do rank and file JWs. Nor do they practice their religion in the same way. As in any man made organization on earth, rank has its privileges in dubdom. The Jacksons, the Williams sisters of tennis fame, George Benson, Prince, and many more "real" celebrities - along with ranking JWs (COs, DOs, GB members) are all in a special category with its own set of rules.
The writer said, "The rich are different than you and me." In dubdom, this principle also rules.
The Jackson family has JW ties, but the vast majority of them are not JWs. And those who are, live by way different standards than the average JW.
The dubs insist they are united in thought and deed and all speak the "one pure language of Truth" and that in this JWs stand out as different among all peoples on earth. Like most of their teachings, this too is bullshit.
These memorial services are for the living and perhaps Michael asked for this to be done. Im sure there is a bit of "15 minutes of fame" for anyone who does a memorial from the JWs at the familys behest. If the parents, mom in particular, did NOT attend this then it probably wasnt a JW sanctioned event.
JW funerals in or outside of the hall, are notoriously "infomercial" and their outline for that talk is horrendous. It basically says anyone who ISNT a JW and who ISNT baptized as a JW...can kiss their asses goodbye because they arent saved or going to heaven or anything else.
Michaels life, his home and his funeral were all circuses.
