I grew up in a family with a non-jw father and a jw mother. We learned early not to flood our father with WT speak after a convention.
I always love your advice BTX, was thinking with the newer paper quality, the literature is almost toilet paper quality!
What is interesting is she was going to ride to the DC with the study sister, she drove herself and now at lunch rather than sitting around with them, she is off on her own....
Tomorrow she is not going to the DC, we have other plans.......
With respect to the end times, I always tell her the end may be close, but I live my life as a good person and really am not concerned about it, because nothing I can do would change anything. Enjoy the moment!
she acts as if she had "fun" she will know that it was anything but fun.
I believe that to be not the case for the majority who go.. True they may get hot, or cold - they eat pack ups in brown bags - they endure traffic and petty rules, but -
There is something exciting about seeing a whole stadium full of people that think the way that you think. Instead of being the odd one, you are among your own people, and that is so stimulating..They lap up the talks even enjoy the drama's and love just chatting to fellow dubs.
The whole thing is designed to be a pep talk and they have have been doing it successfully for at least 90 years ..
Insearchof,
My dad use to have dinner waiting for my mom when she attended assemblies. She still talks about how wonderful it was...not the assemblies, but to come home to a quiet peaceful house and have dinner cooked for her.
Good luck.
r.
if she mentions anything, you might could say "so did you learn anything new or exciting or interesting?...or was it pretty much the exact same info as every other meeting/convention you have ever attended?".......god how did i do it for sooo long?!?!?..........oompa
Be a dear and ask " Where would you like to go eat dear? I know you are tired. Would you like to go out or order in?"
On an evil side note..."Can I get you some Tylenol? " If you need to save face and not mention it must be from the depressing babble she heard all day..."The drive must have been hard on you. So many vehicles and stop and go traffic almost always cause a headache."
You may find her to be thrilled to be home...where it is safe and no one tells her every 15 minutes she isn't good enough! I bet she missed your smiling face all day!
Do you have any vampire teeth and fake blood? You could have A LOT of fun with those two things.
My wife attended the assembly last weekend - and I attended it with her!
Though I no longer have any association with the congregation I do attend the Circuit and District assemblies in order to support her.
