    Hi!

I talked to an ex-JW this weekend. Her sister had told her that there was a softening up on how to treat DFs family members at the assembly. It was the impression her sister got from the drama. Is this an interpreation on her part, or have anyone got the same impression (related by people who have been at t he assembly)....

I don't remember the drama that way myself. What I got out of it was that there should be more inviting and socializing and help for teenagers growing up in Witness households so that teenagers aren't so enticed by the world and get into the wrong in the first place. And also that there needs to be more consistency so that favoritism isn't an issue like it can be.

Thank you, InquiryMan, for posting this information.

How ever this "interpretation" may actually play out in the future, the methodical swing of the so-called pendulum in matters JW takes us to the right, takes us to the left. In the past, an unyielding and callous treatment toward disfellowshiped individuals had been officially sanctioned; then, as you stated, a softening attitude appears to replace the former.

Is Holy Spirit at work here or the WT public relations man?

On the other hand, if there was a softening up, that would truly benefit a lot of people...

Right now the hardline stance is still heavy-handed within the publications. How to view/treat DFd/DAd is a topic that tends to change with WTS prevailing personalities........ Jaracz of course recently was sidelined by health from his 'Boss' status.

Is there plans to soften the public's perception of the practice...... "Allegedly"

While it might be less ugly then Teddy J's reign it won't change the negative perception of podium announced "So and so is no longer a JW"

Rumors have been whispering for sometime now that many Dfing offenses will be pushed into the AutoDA catagory. Why? Well governmental inquiry of course.....the usual catalyst for WTS change these days (besides time marching on) . Many countries are now questioning if treatment of DFd (DAd too really) are human rights issues.

What is not clear is how the 'facts' and 'omissions' clauses would play out if all this comes into reality.

Please keep in mind that until the LTRs are sent out it is all speculation and rumor

The only "New Stance" I am aware of is the recent reminder to be upwind of DF'd people when pissing on them.

    Didn't get that at all.

No one portrayed in the drama was disfellowshipped.

The JW doctrine is unchanged - avoid all contact at all costs, unless caring for "necessary" family business.

i DOUBT THERE HAS BEEN A SOFTENING OF THE STANCE ON THE TREATMENT OF DFED INDIVIDUALS. RECENTLY THEY WENT OVER THE APPENDIX IN THE 'KEEP YOURSELF IN GOD'S LOVE' BOOK WHICH SPELLED OUT THE LIMITING OF ASSOCIATION EVEN DURING THE PERFORMACE OF NECESSARY FAMILY BUSINESS.

It was like i suspected.. The sister "interpreting" the drama to her benefit, justifying her contact with her DF sister.

Sir82 is correct the Drama is about a Brother who goes off the theocratic path and returns repentent...... he is not DFd.

(((( MY spin on the Drama is 'not in my KH'.... the Brother not only would have been DFd but his repentence would not have even mattered because the Elders would have felt the need to 'send a message' about the 'seriousness' of his actions so as to keep the congregation clean. ))))
