As I meant to say, It's not a matter of luck, but discernment. If you're a newbie, you need a translator, a mentor, a guide, and your wits about you. At least, Jehovah and His Word are still there to help make decisions. And, of course, so are your contacts.
"Time and unforseen occurence"...a Witness loophole Scripture when your Sh## out of luck!

This is just one example of having your cake and eating it to.
- If something bad happens and you are not affected - god is protecting you.
- If something bad happens and you are affected - read scripture about "time and unforceen occurence."

It's a matter of spiritual discernment, I suggest. Cake doesn't help my weight

It's a matter of blindly following a fictional book but together by Constantine and the Nicaean coucil (a bunch of bishops)
And yes that cake makes your ass look fat.

To Priest73, the books that I refer to are non-fiction and off modern printing presses, not so delicate or ancient as a Constantinian tome.
The cake may go to "your" seat; on me, it would actually go to the "front porch"

This thread did not get the attention it deserved.
I understand what 007 was saying. This has been something that has bothered me for a long time.
When I tried to sell my house, sooooo amny Witlesses said to me, "Have you prayed about it?"
WTF???
Is God on MLS?? If someone sells their house right away, is it because God helped them?? Or is it the big f'ing "For Sale" sign on their lawn??

The scriptures do say "Pray incessantly"
An elder once told me, Grow where you're planted!
Sometimes moving just compunds the situation, rather than simplify it. Moving costs aren't just in $ and ¢, or in £, or €, or ¥, or other type of ¤ [currency]. Friends, spiritual help, known community, are all important in making good decisions. Part of it is "the devil you know versus the devil you don't", in my honest opinion.
We need to understand our motives for doing things.

Praying for protection is a "lottery"....you may win or you may lose...toss a coin.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

I love this post! A few years ago I was out in service with a sister that said she had almost been in a car accident and Jehovah must have been with her because she was able to avoid it. Just about a year before a whole car load of pioneers got wiped out, out in service no less. I said, without thinking, "well what about so and so wasn't Jehovah with all of them?" Stone cold silence in that minivan my friends! Or how about the looney that just recovers from cancer and keeps saying "Jehovah is so good to me". Totally disregarding the four year old that just died of leukemia. That must have been time and un foreseen occurrence. Don't anybody dare interject any logic into any of their thought process.
