I actually think that for a lot of people here, they need the WT to be there. If it were gone it would in some way invalidate their pain and suffering. I also think this need explains the reason why some people hold to the view that the WT as beyond destruction.
If The Jehovah's Witnesses Continued or Ceased Would You Be Greatly Affected?

Since most of my family are witnesses, I am and will continue to be affected by their existence. If they cease to exist I will still be affected. If that did happen, I would be involved with helping my family cope with the loss of the fantasy. I have some members who have been in it from birth and are in their 70.s. I believe it would be much harder for them to cope then the younger ones. I wouldn't want them to go through the loss of everything they have ever believed in. If their eyes are opened on their own wonderful, but I wouldn't want their world to collapse.

Not much either way. But I've been out a long time and have no relatives in. It would be nice to be able to look up old friends.

As long as there is a thriving congregation of Jehovah's Witlesses in my area, there is the danger of my being forcibly picked up, dragged to the Kingdumb Hell, force-reindoctrinated, hauled out in field circus for several years with just plain men (and working on only just plain men the whole time), getting set up for their Value Destroyer Training School, getting a billion assignments simultaneously that cannot be refused for any reason, more men, bringing them up to Critical Mass, and then having them plunge the whole world into the Second Dark Ages.
At least if they went down, another cult would have an uphill battle to get a solid base to do the same.

I think if the ceased to be around it would be really peaceful. No more bugging people on Saturdays morning, etc. No more sending pedophiles to their doors. I think the world would be a better place if they if they were gone.

The other way of looking at this is like the Iraq war. If we suddenly pulled out and the whole thing collapsed...all those kids who died would have died in vain. But if we stay....MORE will die in vain in an unwinable war.
Same with the WTS. But I do think its demise far outweighs its staying around in terms of positives.
