    Issacaustin..

"As a child it was horrible to knock at the door and have it answered by my classmates ."

Now theres a horrible reminder!..I can remember going to peoples doors..There would be a kid I was`nt allowed to play with..

I would stand at his door with my little suit and tie on,while my dad preached to his dad..

I was`nt allowed to associate with him..

    But

I was allowed knock on his door all dressed up and annoy his family..

You are right on. I always felt like that. Even when I truly believed that this was the truth I just could not accept the way we did it. I was like come on this means peoples lives what are we doing just driving around aimlessly. I remember telling the friends (they were not in anyway friends) in the car group that we have been blessed to know the truth and we have got to tell the people in the territory because the system is so close to the end everyone is going to die if we do not reach them and I would just be so frustrated driving all day getting out of the car if I was lucky once sometimes I did not get out at all. Why did I not get a clue than.

The flip side of this was that I hated to talk at the door because I always just felt like a magazine sales person and I was never sure what in the heck I was truly doing there but I bought into it so much that I believed it. Oh it was so crazy looking back.

Oh My God how stupid was I. That may be a good name in some ways but I was really stupid. I bought into in all the way. Yeah Spike and Reniaa go for it if you really think this is the true religion get in your cars and drive all day long hitting two house along the way. We have to get the preaching work done you know it is a life saving work.

    Outlaw & VS-

Just like the b-day ban to keep separate from outsiders at a young age and make the members not fit in, field service is no different. From a young age, this busy work makes the org top in the witnesses life. It makes them not fit in with outsiders since their free time is spent differently. Embarassing situations are created starting at a young age which makes it harder for the child to then form friendships with outsiders. Enjoyment of life is put on the backburner to carry out this busy work.

A JW Kids life,is a constant embarresment.....Not allowed to participate in anything, including prayer in school..How stupid was that?

    I`m a very religious JW Kid,I can`t pray with you!..LOL!!

Every moment,of every day,was dedicated to sticking out like a sore thumb..Enforced by our Idiot JW Parents..

What a Waste of a Young life!

    Outlaw,

I remember kids asking me why I can't do anything for Thanksgiving. I said its against my relgion to celebrate holidays. One kid said to me Thanksgiving isn't a celebration its a dinner. Of course I had no answer.

Oh Isaac the horrible memories your post brings to mind!

I think that is the one area that my Dubbie-childhood that I keep surpressed as deeply as possible.

Speaking of B-Day bans..... I once knocked at a door with my mom and uber pioneer one Saturday morning of a classmate who tormented me the most and sure enough they were having her b-day party. The worldly-mom was just as cruel, and she called Amy and all the party guests (umm 90% of my classroom & teacher) to the door for the most humiliating experience in my life! The classroom fallout was so bad the teacher felt sorry for me and let me do all my work in the library from Halloween week until Xmas break!....

((( and oddly enough.... right now instead of phone witnessing as I was assigned, I am baking some birthday cupcakes pops for a party at my daughter's summer activity. I am doing a slightly bigger version of this http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html!)

VS: The criss-crossing of assigned territory is referred to by many pioneers as the 'star of David'

Ah! The ol' JW loophole ...

    Can't have Thanksgiving dinner ...

but you can eat the leftovers if offered.

    Can't have Birthday cake ...

but you can eat the leftovers if offered.

    Can't accept a Christmas present ...

but you can accept it the day after or before Christmas.

This also includes buying Christmas cookies and other foods that are marked down after Christmas.

    Also includes accepting Christmas bonues.

    Can't participate in Halloween ...

but you can eat the leftover candy if offered.

Without these little loopholes, most JWs would have left a long time ago.

These things were what helped me fade. I was reminded of how Daniel did not eat the food that was offered to him and his friends because it was considered pagan. They only ate veggies, fruits and nuts. Now, did Daniel accept the food from Nebuchadnezzar the next day? Nope.

Do you see the hypocrisy of the Jehovah's Witnesses?
