Cognac, if you can, I suggest you do some kind of resistance exercise. Weight lifting. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even at rest. As in sitting in front of the computer

lol well its working for me right now...im doing weight watchers and thats basically what you do, you count "points" or calories and only get a certain amount a day. plus working out gives you more points. its actually really easy...my mom and i love it... she has lost 20 lbs i have lost 15. and dont really feel like im on a diet honestly. you can eat whatever you want, you just have to allow for it.
my only problem is i like to go out on the weekends and alcohol is BAD BAD BAD for a diet... lol

count every calorie
I have no idea how to count calories. I don't think I take in a lot because I don't eat a ton. How many calories are you supposed to have a day? How do you know how many calories something has on it if it's not labeled - like a piece of fruit or a muffin?

I'm working on it!

lol, I usually do cardio. I thought weight lifting would make you bigger... The guys at the gym who do the training keep asking about doing a training with them but I didn't really want to cause I thought I'd get bigger. Shows how much I know...

That's right. Increasing muscle mass will increase metabolism, which means that you'll be burning more calories while at rest. That increased muscle is fast twitch muscle, and it is fast twitch muscle that burns sugar. Slow twitch muscle burns fat. Do both kinds of exercises, those to build muscle and those to increase endurance.

Unless you drastically change your diet and change the hormonal balance that is natural for females and exercise like a fanatic you won't look "bulked up". You will looked toned. I have a Total Gym that I bought used for $150 and it lets you do all sorts of things. You can use it get the long and sleek look or increase the resistance to bulk up more (I'm a male, by the way, and I prefer to look slender, not muscled). But whatever you do, as a female, you won't look "bulked up". What's nice about the Total Gym is that it stretches muscles too, keeping you limber. You can add a hatha yoga practice or pilates to do that too. In fact, many of the exercises for the Total Gym are like pilates. If interested in something like the Total Gym look for something used - you don't really need a high end version of it either.

I go to the gym. They have a pool, hot tub, and sauna... Plus, they watch my baby... HUGE incentive for me to go there and work out!!!

Cognac, I've had weight problems my whole life, and here are the only things I've found to be true:
1. It's not how much you eat, but what you eat. When I follow the U.S daily recommended amounts of fruits, vegetables and lean meats, I can't eat enough to fullfill them.
2. Exercise should be done at least for an hour three times a week.
3. Knowing what needs to be done is easier than doing them. LOL!
Don't get discouraged. Being that you're trying to lose baby weight, and you've been breast feeding, you may just be in a plateau. Right now it's more important to eat right so as to properly nourish your baby.Alls I know is I eat nonstop, I'm never hungry but I always want to be putting food in my face. I don't get sick, just pleasantly full. But I never stop eating. And at least half of what I eat is sugar.
I believe eating is what I do to avoid doing other things. I'm extremely introverted. Leaving the house, especially alone and to new places, is stressful for me. Phone calls are stressful. I'm also lacking a routine right now, and that is stressful. Being on the computer and eating are what I do to avoid these things. My problem is less physical than psychological. I need to become comfortable while NOT eating.
Bluecanary, please see a doctor to make sure you don't have high insulin levels. High insulin levels cause emtional distress and make a person need to eat, especially sugar. Once food is consumed, especially sweets, there is a sense of well being. While your problem may be psychological, it's a good idea to rule out physical causes.

That's great. Take advantage of swimming to build endurance and exercise machines to build muscle. Sauna's will help to detoxify your body. Vary your routine to keep things interesting.
