Vary your routine to keep things interesting.

    That's a good idea!

Hehe it's damn hard for a woman to "bulk up" C. It's amazing what it does to really change your body for the better. I dropped almost 2 sizes and only lost a few pounds when I was working with a trainer. It feels soooo good to be aware of your muscles. I decided to add running to my routine, and promptly ended up having knee surgery. Now I've gained a ton and I feel like crap. I need to get back on a routine that my knees can live with.

If you're interested in calories and nutrition, there's a great free site that helps you calculate what you are really eating. FitDay.com It's amazing to see the breakdown of a days calories. The fat can reeeeeeeally add up, just by eating eggs for breakfast, mayo on a sandwhich at lunch, butter on your veggies, and meat for dinner. We won't even talk about dessert

i am kinda trying......i want to lose 10 pounds of front belly......i am just trying to visibly reduce portions....no fill a plate....see a normal steak or big chicken breast and say "i dont need all that".....also i was raised with clean your plate syndrome........now as soon as i start to get even a tiny bit satisfied i will not finish the entire plate.......drinking lots of water before and during the meal and eating very slow (which i always have done) may help too.......i saw a french lady on GMA or such and she said the french diet is just smaller portions and that three tiny bits of a sweet desert can easily satisfy you, rather than eat a big piece......i am also starting to ride my bike again.......oh and i usually eat a lot more salads in the summer anyway...........oompa

    good luck all

I've had bad knees since 1981. I've found that biking is something I can tolerate very well. Building muscle around the knee lessens the pain significantly. It helps to have a good bike; I use a 24 speed hybrid. Having a large range of speeds takes the strain off the knees. Eliptical machines also work well with my knees too, but it's not as much fun as biking. They probably have those at your gym. Swimming might be a good option for you; the whole body gets worked. It's considered one of the very best exercises you can do.

drinking lots of water before and during the meal and eating very slow (which i always have done) may help too.......i saw a french lady on GMA or such and she said the french diet is just smaller portions and that three tiny bits of a sweet desert can easily satisfy you, rather than eat a big piece....

I agree, oompa. Be sure to keep hydrated and be alert to depletion of electrolytes when you are working out; you won't replenish them with just water - Gatorade works well for me. When eating, eat until you are no longer hungry rather than to the point of feeling full; and yes, eat slowly and mindfully rather than just shoveling it down - that will help to tune you into your body more keenly and what it needs rather than what your mind wants. Adding some extra fiber to your diet will give a sense of fullness for longer stretches of time and it will aid digestion, which is very important. Women especially seem to be prone to irregularity. Becoming regular will aid in weight loss, increased energy, and a greater sense of well-being.
