Romans 1:18-20 [Jack J. Blanco's Clear Water paraphrase]

    18. The consequences of not looking to God for help are seen in the lives of the Gentiles who generally don't care about doing what's right. Heaven can't bless people when they say that they believe the truth about the God of heaven and then live as they please.

    19. They can know the truth about our God without us telling them. People are not that dull. They can see how God's laws work in nature. His laws are plain enough for everyone to see and understand.

    20. So even though we can't actually see God, we can understand what He's like and how He governs by looking at nature. That's how it's been since the creation of this world. We can understand the regenerative power of God and His goodness by looking at the things He made, and that leaves people without excuse.

    Spike:

Ahh... the uh.. "bible" right? Well, as long as we're cherry picking bible verses, I have one:

    Ezekiel 23:20

    20. She lusted after their genitals – as large as those of donkeys, and their seminal emission was as strong as that of stallions.

Science describes to us the molecular structure of Deoxyribonucleic acid. Science has discovered information we have used to eliminate deadly diseases. Science has saved billions from immanent starvation.

But, yay, go bible. The bible takes the time to graphically describe in perverse detail some chick's lust for some dude's junk. Thanks "God". Thanks for carefully recording and preserving this important message for all time (you couldn't preserve the pronounciation of your own freaking name, but hell, we all make mistakes. At least you kept this vital scripture intact). This is certainly something we all should keep in mind.

PS: Have you considered how you can apply God's message in Ezekiel 23:20 in YOUR life, Spike? I have.

Ezekiel 23:20 tells us that pornography has been around a long time, and has Jehovah's displeasure. It's good to see the graphic proof.

Now, did you know that the Bible tells about the hare being a "chewer of the cud", which science only proved in the 18th century CE.

If science were the be all and end all, it would have eliminated starvation from the human experience. Alas, it has NOT. Because of greed, and because of mismanagement of the earth's resources. Why? Because, so far, the world has NOT taken the Bible's moral code seriously.

Respect for all human life, regardless of who they are, is a big component in the principled love which humans are mandated to show, both to legitimate authority and to our fellowman, whoever this might be, including all who post on JWN.

Lol, that scripture certainly is NOT talking about pornography. It's describing a woman's lust in the 'colorful terms of the era'. If anything that scripture itself is pornographic, and considering it is included in the bible and 'inspired of God' - could it not be said that the bible condones pornographic speak such as this?

Now, did you know that the Bible tells about the hare being a "chewer of the cud", which science only proved in the 18th century CE.

The current scientific understanding is that hares do not chew their cud. Hares do not regergitate their food. (http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview/id/492669.html)

If science were the be all and end all, it would have eliminated starvation from the human experience. Alas, it has NOT.

Neither has God. You're thinking in absolutes - black and white, all or nothing. I'm of the opinion that saving over 1 billion people from starvation is a 'pretty good start'. It's certainly much better than God's score at this point. Science is not a god. Science seeks knowledge. We as humans are responsible for how we use the information science gives us.

Respect for all human life, regardless of who they are, is a big component in the principled love which humans are mandated to show

That's funny comming from a Witness POV. Blood is a symbol for life. Yet when it comes time to choose between blood (a symbol) and life (the actual thing that is sacred)... Jehovah's witnesses value the symbol over the thing it symbolizes.

I guess every religion needs an icon to worship and die for.

If we 're talking today's terms, like you asked me about, we're talking something like internet porn, alright.

what the hare does is called refection, according to http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Ruminant, and is what the Bible includes in the expression "chewer of the cud"

This life is not the real life (everlasting life). If I'm that far gone that a blood transfusion would possibly add any time to my clock, I'd rather pass, knowing that the real life is a much better option. Jehovah God is, after all, the giver of every good gift and every perfect present.

So, internet porn is inspired by god?? Cool.

What's your opinion of scientist using someone's own DNA and making a cloned heart ,, would that be breaking any of god's commandments?

S:— Don't put words in my mouth. Examples of pornographic thoughts and activities are described in the Bible, as a warning of what is NOT acceptable to Jehovah.

    FS:— I don't know.

I see. So, lusty women are bad in the ot.What about ot men, though? Is lust wrong for them too? Ok, the bible doesn't describe solomom having orgies, similar to that playboy guy, hugh hefner. It doesn't go into details about solomon's sex practices, what kind of women he liked, what positions, etc. Infact, the ot treats him VERY gently. No pornographic descriptions of any of his activities w his many wives and unlimited number of girlfriends are given. Same for the other lusty patriarchs. Guess it's more wrong for women to have fantasies than for men to actually fulfil their fantasies.

What's wrong for the goose is wrong for the gander. The Bible is a SPIRITUAL book, so we have to look for the spirit behind the words.
