  Medical science offer no real concrete explanation and hence no real cure. It is concerned largely with "management" of the condition, normally with drugs. The old methods were even more barbaric, lobotomy and such.

  What's really crazy is people who still think schizophrenia and other disorders are caused by demons.

  Medical science is constantly improving. Until a real cure is found, often drugs are the next best thing as they can relieve symptoms and help a person to lead a normal life. Medical science not being able to eliminate the root cause of such problems is not evidence that the "demunz" explanation is correct.

  Yes, that's right. People who believe in Jesus are never mentally ill.

  ....one of those stories I'd rather not have in my consciousness.

  I did a project for a post-partum depression organization several years ago and it was one of the most uncomfortable assignments I've ever had. In retrospect, I should have turned it down because I found it very difficult to sympathize. (I love babies like I love life.) However, I did learn a lot about PPDS. Often it takes the form of the mother committing suicide rather than committing infanticide. Either way, it is real and it is heartbreaking.

  This poor woman is clearly insane, whether due to post-partum issues or pre-existing schizophrenia or some another mental illness. I hope she never becomes rationally conscious of what she has done.

  The woman is severely ill. I don't think the JW angle has too much significance, other than it shows they don't have any magic bullet to cure the mentally ill while they still discourage professional treatment.

  It makes a certain perverse sense: Most of the other 5 or 6 TX women who have done this (that I remember from the fairly recent past), were told to do it by god/Jesus. But JW's don't have a very personal sense of god or Jesus, as compared to most other Christians. Otoh, they very much believe that Satan can (and will, if you let him) get into their head.

  The elders told me to throw my burden on Jehover, that psychiatry can poision the mind. What kind of treatment was she getting? Was she getting any? If not, why?

  I think these are important questions.

  I was just telling that to someone at work. It's called 'religous frenzy'.
