Because of the economy, so many people can no longer afford to take care of their pets, or have to move to a location where pets are not allowed. With the best of intentions, many famlies think they have found a loving new home.

    Thanks for watching.

I just couldn't watch it. I probably like dogs more than people.

I can't bring myself to watch it.

My mother and I would like to get a dog soon. My intent is to get one from someone who is unable to keep their pet.

Dinah and Blue Canary....It has a good ending but made me cry. I'm not a big fan of Pitts but a dog and cat lover. To sum it up they are saying never say "free to good home" in ads, especially on Craig' list. Charge a re-homing or adoption fee.

If you're looking for a new pet, please adopt. There are so many wonderful animals out there needing good homes. There are also many rescue organizations for specific breeds if that is what you are looking for. These animals are being fostered waiting for homes, and the foster homes can answer any questions and help with any problems you may encounter.

The scale is a bit different, but pets, like children, come with some moral baggage. They are dependent on us. Washington state is starting to have some trouble with horses in this situation - and you can run up against the financial pressure a lot faster with a horse. It is something to think about when you get a pet. A few years ago my brother got our parents a golden lab retreiver (they all do a lot of duck hunting) Mom and Dad are getting up in years, so my brother made it clear that if or when the time came, the dog could live with him (he's on a big place in Montana). I don't think my parents would have accepted the gift without that provision.

If you do nee it, there are good adoption agencies out there that will handle it for free or low charge.

    Jeff T,

You bring up a great point:

" Washington state is starting to have some trouble with horses in this situation - and you can run up against the financial pressure a lot faster with a horse."

The girl I adopted my dogs from runs a Horse rescue farm. It has become a huge problem here in Florida and elsewhere. She has taken in dead horses walking and revived them into beauties. Here is just one page on her website of horses she has saved:

I just wanted to add one more thing. Dog fighters use a contraption called a "rape rack"....I won't go into details. Its for male dogs. I had never heard of such a thing and was appalled.

Even if you don't have pets, keep and eye out and report suspected animal abuse....it's the only voice they have.

    On another note,

A man was just sent to jail for raping his own dog here in Orlando.....it had to be put down from the abuse......how sick can it get? The 21 year old monster claimed he was "lonely"

I appreciate so much that you love Dogs, and are so involved with their welfare.

I too love animals, especially Dogs, and always do what I can to show them love and compassion. It makes me happy that there are others such as yourself who share the same kind of bond with Dogs. Humans can learn a LOT from our Animal Friends, especially when it comes to unconditional Love.

Have you ever seen how dogs unconditionally love chickens and flower beds?
