"Rutherford wished to be buried at either Beth-Sarim or Beth-Shan. On Rutherford's death Knorr and the Watchtower Society went to court in an attempt to have Rutherford buried at Beth-Sarim. As shown in the Consolation 1942 May 27 insertion below, this was to do with Rutherford's fanciful belief in the return of the "the King of the East" to Beth-Sarim and his need to face "the rising sun" upon that return. Knorr lost the case, but his action postponed Rutherford's burial for three and a half months after he died. "

D o es this 3 "1/2" months have any ties to jesus being raised from the dead in 3 "1/2" days?

I'm going to guess no. But if it did, it didn't work. He's have been Judge
jerky by then (not unlike in life).

It took 3 1/2 months to wage all the Court battles over whether Rutherford could legally be buried at
    Beth Sarim or not.

You think Rutherford was a stinker in life, just think what that old bastard smelled like after being dead for 3 1/2 months!

or what he smelled like when they found him. From what I understand he was dead for several days before they found him. Wasn't there evidence that rats had chewed on his body?

So where did they end up burying him?

If you had far too much spare time on your hands you could try using sonar to establish if Rutherford's casket at the 'launching pad' contained bones or rocks. If it is rocks, he is most likely at Beth Sarim, as per the rumour mill.

I think Farkel is right on Knorr and Franz. According to one source, the man who bought Beth Sarim from the Watchtower Society in the late 1940s told him that Watchtower officials told him when he bought the place that Rutherford is buried underneath the relatively new garage floor. When someone inquired of the owner if he knew where Rutherford was buried (there had been a rancorous fight between WTS officials and San Diego officials about burying Rutherford on the property), he said, "You're standing on him." He was standing on the concrete garage floor at the time. This wouldn't surprise me at all, given the Society's penchant for ignoring "Caesar" whenever they think they can get away with it.

I was told by a JW who spoke to Fred Franz that Franz admitted to him that Rutherford was buried on the property. He told me that if I ever told anyone he would deny it, so ask me if I care!

Good point, but there IS always the possibility that he was already pretty well embalmed by being pickled with bourbon.

I have for a long time wondered if the two big V-16 Cadillacs were preserved and might be in collections today - but have never had any confirmation from any of the old-car people I know.

Probably a self-respecting collector would not really want to admit who the original owner was in this case - the Al Capone car notwithstanding.

Abraham, Issac and Jacob would have loved the swimming pool. Couldn't you just see Abraham do a cannonball from the diving board?
