I am a sinner and there is no denying that fact

I felt exactly the same as you at one point. I believe that I was truly looking for truth, so (tried to)applied what was said by the jw org. This standard is impossible to fulfill.

I asked other witnesses what they thought about this and most just didn't even ponder these types of dilemmas. They just had switched off and obeyed but on the other hand, didn't reflrct on their personal behaviour relating to wt standards unless it was brought to their attention by the elders.

So I came to the conclusion similar to WT Wizard, which ironically puts a lot more onus on the individual than the jws ever did. We need to be responsible global citizens, not mindless clones plugged in to the wts machine.

Right on! A responsible global citizen without the guilt is all Jesus ever meant for us to be (if he even existed). Thanks for that, Doof Daddy!

    Bravo!!! Perfectly phrased, DD!

Welcome Dear Girlie! As you probably already know, the word "sin" literally means "to miss the mark". Well, I don't know about you, but I know absolutely no one that can hit a bull's eye with every throw... (but somehow they can keep racking up points on the surrounding circles!)

So you missed the mark? Big deal! Personally, I'm voting for DoofDaddy on International Global Citizen Day!

    HI girlie

We are all sinners. it's hard to be constantly battling sinful inclination. One scripture that comforts me is this one.

    Luke 18:9-14 (New International Version)

9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: 10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about [a] himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'

13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'

14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Jehovah himself knows it is hard for us and loves us more for it.

We are all sinners, ALL of us, those that don't recognise that in ourselves are probably the biggets sinners.

No matter how many times we can be "born again" or get dunked like donuts, that will never change.

That is why God has given us his Grace though his Son, no matter what we do God can loves us no less or no more than God already does.

We need to realize that his love is eternal and that we do deserve it and as such, make ourselves worthy of his love and Garce so we can receive them.

    How do we do this?

Acceptence of our nature as sinners is the first step, redemption is the next one, think AA, , " Hi, my name is Paul and I am a sinner"...

I think we all have to forgive ourselves as well as others instead of beating ourselves up. I think this is what Jesus was trying to teach.

We were handed a legacy of sin. You'll never be able to overcome it. The best we can do is to apologize to those we hurt when we do make a mistake. I believe this includes apologizing to and forgiving ourselves as well. It also means to forgive others as we need to recognize they're in the same boat as us.
