In Canada, hand guns are restricted weapons, you can't get them legally unless your job requires it or have a very VALID reason for owning one.

I can get an illegal handgun, sameday, in Toronto for under 500 bucks.

Banning something is not the answer, it will just make the illegal selling of it thrive.

Compare the lakeside suburban counties in pro-gun Indiana to the very anti- gun Illinois Chicago metro area.

For those of you who dont know the region... both sides of the state line *is* Chicago for practical purposes.

The Indiana crime statistics make a compelling argument for the idea that "more guns make less crime".

If all the little video heads our country has fed and clothed the last 30 years did a little range time (with a NRA approved course) and saw how final and destructive a "real" weapon could be the "posers" wouldnt be getting in over their heads with guns.

Herb Parsons of Sommerville Tn was a fabled trick shooter. Herb toured selling guns for Winchester from the 30's to the 50's. He always said, "take your boy hunting and you wont have to hunt for him later".

Maybe we should make folks get a licences to have kids.... a lack of "upbringing" is the issue here. If people were raised to be respectful and hardworking ... those of us with guns wouldnt be so worried about protecting ourselfs from the monsters these people become.

gun control + effective sentencing works in other countries

like George Friedman said - America is a teenager, keen to display its power, often not aware of its own strength and still with plenty room to grow up.

some of the posts on this thread verify his words apply not only to the nation but to some of its citizens :-)
