How much does behel/bethels around the world conribite to local and national economies?

    Um, just a guess here, going out on a bit of a limb, but I'm going to say that Bethel doesn't use coal-powered printing presses.

    But anyways, back on topic, yeah, aside from cheap pizza joints, all-you-can-eat Chinese buffets, and liquor / beer stores, not much effect at all. $150 a month (or whatever the stipend is now) doesn't go far.

    E.g. in Selters Germany, they have donated a fire truck (?), improved roads etc, things that contribute to improvement of the local infrastructure.

    actually, now that I think about it, Bethels generate quite a bit of tourism, due to the many that visit Bethels each year. No doubt, this helps raise the fashion standard in the area because of the visitors' model example. Thus, more shopping by the locals, in addition to whatever tourism dollars the Witnesses bring to the areas due to the nearby Bethels.
