my friends mum is a dub , and she has told her grandchild to come back to meetings as armageddon is coming in the form of swine flu and its going to kill everyone in a month because a member of the congregation had a dream , the problem is the month has passed ! what a lovely grandma telling her grandchild such bedtime stories ,physological child abuse i would have thought it really pisses me off that these people get away with putting such fear into kids heads and have the damn nerve to look down on "worldley people " poor kids

it was the po that had the dream , do you think it would disalusion the rank and file that it did not come true ? or would he have a new light card up his sleeve ? if armageddon had come every time i had a dream about it (or nightmare) i would have been back and forth like a yo yo !

My jw was full of gloom & doom about the swine flu, stopped short of saying it was the big A due to being married to me and knowing how I would answer. Did have a nice comment for child though, we were talking about swine flu when it was hitting pretty hard here and closing schools, me & child felt some were going a bit overboard (like seeing driver wearing a mask in a closed vehicle all by himself) my jw says something to the effect 'well lets see how you feel when all your friends are dead and dying'. I just wanted to slap him one for that.

At a time when there was probably a few 100 million people on Earth the black plague wiped out over 30 million of them.
For a modern day plague to reach those numbers it would have to wipe out 100's of millions of people, not thousands or tens od thousands or 100's of thousands but 100's of millions.
