Fears of all sorts can stunt intelligence, just as fear of this Deity has for centuries.
What do you fear? Or do you think you are maxing out your intelligence?
Does fear of justice stunt intelligence?

PS
As I began to understand the Gift of Grace I believe EVEN LESS in fearing God.
If you don't fear God, why do you need grace?
DD,
Not sure what you mean...
Grace is God gift to us, what does it have to do with fear?
for a brief period of time in my early 20s
i dated an episcopal priest, born american
but truly anglican in all his yearnings...
(we watched the wedding of charles and diana
at some ungodly hour in the early morning as
that was when it was broadcast.....)
at any rate, i remember his quoting a
theologian ( wish i could remember,
but it could have been augustine, maybe
aquinas) who had proposed it is god's LOVE
that is to be feared more than his wrath...
i could see being in fear of a love divine

DD,
Why do I need God's grace?
In a nutshell, because I am a sinner and nothing I can do will change that, being imperfect and all that, so God's gift of Grace is what allows me to have "access" to him through Jesus, No matter what I do God can't love me anymore or any less than he already does, God's grace is a manifestation of that.
Not sure where fear fits in since I have no fear of God or Jesus.
So if you didn't have God's grace what would happen? Would there be anything to fear?
I'd submit that need (aka necessity) is even more antagonistic to (or incompatible with) grace than fear is.
DD,
Think you are leading to the fear of God's judgement, yes?
Well, I guess that IF I didn't h ave God's grace and believed that God is the type to destroy and punish then yes, I would fear God.
Luckly that is not the case for me, even befoore I found God's Grace it seemed illogical that a supreme being, an all knowing and all powerful God, would be the "punishing type", especially since God is all knowing and all seeing.
I know of the many passages in the bible that can instill fear of God and his Judgment though his Son Jesus, but they are vastly outnumberd by those that refer to his Love, his forgiveness and his understanding.
