This morning the bastard that attacked my wife with the intention of raping her was sentenced to 25 years to life plus five years. He must serve a minimum of 30 years. Thank God for the Three Strikes Law (I know that some of the liberals on this board may not join me in my gratitude for the voters of California's wisdom in making that law). This bastard's entire criminal history was rehashed during the sentencing. He began his criminal behavior back in 1997 with an armed robbery, as a juvenile. He then had numerous run-ins with the law until 2002 with another armed robbery, and a 2005 attempted armed robbery. The defense attorney tried to get some of the "Strikes" tossed by claiming that the State had not properly linked the bastard to previous crimes. The Judge saw through all that and dismissed the motion.

My wife, declined to go due to issues from her high blood pressure. I made a statement to the judge asking for the full measure of justice to come down on this bastard. The bastard did speak to me, and by extension my wife, and apologized. I am not swayed by his apology.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts towards us during this time. It has been greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't imagine you would be swayed by the animals apology either.

    May he rot.

XJW4EVR - It is so good to hear that justice has finally been done. Now that this lowlife scumbag has been sentenced hopefully you and your wife will have some closure and be able to heal. Your wife sounds like a very brave lady with lots of inner strength.

Best wishes and hugs to both of you.

Congratulations. Your experience illustrates how simple and straightforward justice should be. Too bad it couldn't have been applied by the Scots before they let that mass murderer go back to the hate filled society that spawned him.

Kudos to your wife for following through! Peace to your family.

There are one-off young offenders who've been raised hellishly, fall through the cracks and eventually learn their lessons the hard way. We should do what we can to catch them young and help turn them around.

And then there are career criminals, repeat offenders who choose crime as a way of life, always upping the ante and going on to more serious, violent offenses. They have no conscience, and no place in civilization. Especially sex offenders!

As it is, we'll be paying through our taxes to ensure this repeater miscreant gets better healthcare in the jail system than most of us could ever afford by simply abiding the laws and striving to work/live peacefully. That's the part that really pisses me off.

I'm so happy for your wife and yourself. I hope this brings some form of closure for you both.

For my family once the sentencing took place it was a huge step in the healing process knowing that the criminal would never get to harm anyone again.

California is really hard on Sexual Offenders so be relived that he will have to do at least 85% of his time before he even gets a parole hearing. Not to mention he'll probably be housed with the rest of those freaks who are not very nice people.

If he's married he will never be allowed family visits (over nights)

These are a few of the things that made me feel better about not taking our offenders life out myself. Hope it helps you as well.

I'm a liberal and am very happy that your wife's attacker will be locked up long term. From his history, I'm assuming he's about 29 years old, so he'll be almost 60 by the time he has a chance for parole. Hopefully whatever drives his violent tendencies will have mellowed with age.

Thanks for sharing those points about laws in Cali, truthseeker. Here in NJ, most sex offenders are sent to Avenel, a camp for "counseling" to keep them out of the general population. Because they'd probably be ripped limb from limb in a real prison.

It doesn't work. The number one thing they learn from each other is how to skirt Megan's Law. I have firsthand experience with this "process," and it sucks because the system is a self-reporting, self-defeating failure. Parole officers are useless.

It is a travesty to families everywhere.

Are you really so right-wing as to think that liberals are against just punishment? Turn off your Fox news, it's not Us vs Them.

I think you'd count me as a "liberal", but personally I think 30 years in prison is much too lenient for that type of animal.

I'm glad you're getting a positive resolution to this.
