Suppose a man and a woman are both in the official category of "NOT a JW" or "no longer a JW" but are both regular meeting attenders and studying, what communication is acceptable between them which would NOT "warrant a reproof"? Is it possible to upbuid each other spiritually, other than by noticing the singing and note-taking and other active listening that the other is doing? Is it OK to ask if it is OK to sit next to that one? I understand that a spiritual person cannot be "stumbled" (Psalm 119:165). Why is it that elders seem to be "stumbled" more than most, and unable to read humour (a common coping technique for many from a dysfunctional background)?
