Yep, my folks get quiet when I mention hubby and I are getting our financials situated to be ready for retirement in ten years. Wait, I wasn't supposed to finish high school, and wouldn't need a college education for a career in this old system. Hmmm. Good thing I did land a career and can help them out now, because it's 2009 and they're hungry when the pension check is gone.

I remember being scared to go to school just in case armageddon was going to come while I was there. Now I have grandkids too(by the way Lisa you have beautiful grandkids). Now all my kids are JWs and I want them to know what the TRUTH is. I'm glad your daughter is on the same wave length you are.

The best part, is he had no fear. He wasn't worried about what the worldly kids at school that were going to try and trick him into taking drugs or saluting the flag. He doesn't know about Armageddon. He is just excited to learn and meet new friends.

Wow. That is a fine thing, indeed. I am still working diligently to get rid of my fears!

    Lisa, that's awesome.

lisa how good is it that your grandchild can go to school as a normal kid without all the hang ups and restrictions that go with being a JW schoolkid. I hated being the odd one out all through my school years. Unfortunately for me my parents became JWs when I turned 5 and was just about to start school. I was told I would never get to high school, then I was told I would never finish it before the end came. Well I finished high school in 1974 - that's 35 years and counting. Oh and my own son has also finished high school.

Thank you all again for your comments. I'm am so excited that my grandchildren get to grow up to be normal children and live without fears and guilt that I had to grow up with. The oldest one is in band, she plays the saxophone, she's in drama and student counsel, she's one of the more popular kids, with the other students and teachers.

I left when my children were still quite young, they still remember, but have forgiven me. We are close see each other and/or speak nearly every day. My children are now 29 and 24.

    We're free, We're free..

I know one family the mother of which did not expect to graduate from high school before Armageddon. And that was back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Now, they have children that graduated from high school (home schooled) around 1997 (plus or minus, since I do not remember the exact year and they are three years apart). And, they are still single to the best of my knowledge (looking at public records--if they were married, their last names would have changed).

Now, it is another 12 years later, and still nothing. The trouble is, they are requiring people to stake their lives on it--if they are wrong, we are going to have to suffer the effects. And no cross-referencing to find out that the religion originally started in 1872 as a 1874 Armageddon. That was quite a ways back, and they got it wrong every single time. And, since they create no value to make up for it (aside people being scared for their lives if they so much as look at a flag or have a sun-worship song in their head), all they do is throw away people's lives for a date that never comes.

"And yet it has never given them even a moment's pause from still believing they have the truth."

Keyser- JW's can sure dig in their heels over a wrong belief/prediction. They don't even see that is is an irrational act on their part.

I saw a few JW kids drop out of high school from 1972-1975 in order to become fulltime pioneers. It never turned out good for them either. One of them took over the family business a about 15 years ago- that is all that saved him from living in a dump.

Lisa beautiful children thanks for sharing.

Unfortunatly I was one of these Mums that taught the lie
The elders told me my Melanie when she was 4 wouldnt go to Kindergarten
She died at 42 yrs of age after having 3 kids..But thank God she found the truth
before she died. ( & it wasnt the WT)They said Sue would never pass High school .Now at 61 she
is in a Prespertyrian Church & very happy,Alan they said also no highschool
he died at 46 yrs old, after all of them attending High school ( Alan ,Sue,Mell)
Annmarie my eldest 63yrs old now. Is still in slavery ,doesnt speak to me
but she was the last that I dragged into the lie,so I pray she will be the last
to come out of it. But still alive!!!!!
