Sometimes I wonder whether or not we're any different than the Witnesses we criticize . We criticize JWs for lacking love, temperance and fellow feeling. No one likes to be judged but it seems we do our share of unfair judging at times. I dunno.
Are ExJWs That Much Different Than JWs In Their Behavior?

Cult habits die hard. But I think the better question is, are ex-JWs that much different than anyone in their behavior? It's really hard to classify us as a group. The only thing we have in common is what we used to be. Just like any random sampling of population, we exhibit a wide range of personality traits and quirks, some more pleasant than others.

I agree with you, bluecanary. But, as exjws, I think most of us either can smell BS from a mile away or become over eager to learn the skill while in the process of learning it.

Minimus..
Compare JWN with the early days of JWD..
The board is considerably more tolerant..
The board has grown and matured..
Once JW`s leave the WBT$ they are much more capable of learning and growing as individuals..
XJW`s will continue to grow and mature and so will our cyber world..
Compare that with the rigid, black and white world of the WBT$..
Watchtower World only gets worse as time go`s on..
Jehovah`s Winess`s continue to defend a stagnent,corrupt organization..
They have no choice..
The WBT$ strictly enforces the Intelectually and Socially Retarted world, the JW`s live in..
There is no room for personal growth in Watchtower World for any JW..
Jehovah`s Witness`s will continue to remain as they are..

Bluecanry has hit it on the head. Any population of people will have a spectrum of behaviours reflected in it. People on this discussion board will come from different backgrounds, have different personality types and react differently in certain situations to someone else. The ONLY thing we all have in common is that we all had a close experience with a religious group / cult called Jehovah's Winesses. That shared experience doesn't mean we will get along with each in the same way that those who are still witnesses will all get along. perfectly. Show me a congregation that doesn't have cliques

I think collectively we need to be aware of our dealings between one another. If we choose to criticize JWs for their lack of love, we should think twice before we verbally beat up on somebody.

There's a distinction that needs to be made here. We criticize JWs for their lack of love for two reasons, the first being that Jesus said you could identify his disciples by the love they have among themselves. They claim to be Jesus' only true disciples but they falsify their claim by their actions. The second is the love we were personally promised we would receive upon joining the "brotherhood." This board makes no claims as a cohesive unit to be disciples of Christ (whatever the individual religious leanings of its members) and has made no promise of love toward members. It is a discussion forum.
I do not wish to sound like I'm arguing your point. I do think it is harmful to verbally beat up on anyone who comes to this board. I merely wish to point out that JWs are held to a higher standard because they place that standard upon themselves.

Good luck herding Cats minimus..It`s been tried many times..LOL!!
We are a collection of individuals..
Everyone here is at a different stage in thier development..
Some farther along than others..
Trolls are no help in trying to level out the playing field..
The board has always been rough and tumble..
Athough it is much better than it used to be..
The best anyone can do is try to go with the flo..
And..
Learn as we go along..

minimus, I reckon that when I was a former JW that I was a fairly balanced person. It is now obvious to me that since leaving, I wasn't at all! I've worked hard to become far more tolerant of others opinions/actions that don't happen to agree with mine. I make a positive effort to always look for the good in others, rather than ponder over the faults. This has made making friends much easier and I enjoy much better relationships with work colleagues, neighbours, etc. It enables me to be my true self, rather than acting in my former pre-programmed state, and people that knew me prior to quitting JWs have commented favourably on my improved, more patient and understanding nature. Life has become more fulfilling!
