At least people on this board will not make an attempt to ruin one's whole life for disagreeing with the leaders. Nor will anyone be recaptured and forced to post something (at that, whatever the leaders tell them to post) if they for some reason stop. And no Value Destroyer Training School or billion assignments here--nor a Second Dark Ages.
Are ExJWs That Much Different Than JWs In Their Behavior?

The questions should be "are JWs that much different than the rest of humanity".
The answer of course, is "no".

I see it like this. It's just a topic. Everyone will present their opinions or experiences regarding the topic that has been presented.
This forum is more about JWs. Other forums are about politics, abortion, child abuse, hunting, drunk driving, divorce and the list goes on.
I probably shouldn't consider myself an ex-JW because I never considered myself a JW. I was just raised under someone elses delusion.

Personally I think I am kinder and gentler than I was as a JW. Back then I followed a set of rules that had me ingnore the needs of people who were suffering only to put preaching and meetings first. I got to the point where I just couldn't do it.
When a friend, a sister JW, was dying at home I could not and refused to to my elder husband and another elder tell me I was not being a faithful witness because I was missing meetings and service. But my conscience would not let me abandon her and her family. It was really the final straw for me that a whole cong failed to step up to help, meanwhile they were all supporting an elder who was dying at home.
Leaving the JWs allowed me the freedom to think and act based on my conscience rather than a set of rules laid down by a group of love-less men.
Hopefully that comes across in my posts here.
I have to agree that it is harder to be patient with the apologists that come here. I don't often get into it with them but when I have, I do try to be caring. There is a real person under all that cult thinking. A battering ram never really helps a person see how wrong they are. It's just not a part of who I am to use that battering ram. I'm not saying I don't feel like it sometimes because I do. I just prefer to step away from the computer and cool down a bit to consider what I may say. Recently half written posts have stayed open for a day or two before I finish what I want to say because I hope it will have a positive effect.

you hit the nail on the head there minimus....I find some on here are very aggressive and dont have any love atall,I feel sorry for their familys having to listen to that all day.I do find though that actually some of you have real love, and even love for Jah....thats why its hard for me because i feel sad that ive lost a brother or sister that I truly would have had as a friend. Someone I would have had a real good time on the ministry with :)
But sadly for their own reasons they have gone,so i leave it in Jahs hands to heal their hearts, and i mean that with sincere love, not maladiction.x

Regarding JW apologists, oftentimes they stir up the group purposely and get the results. But I have seen very sincere people expressing opposite views here and at times a few have not been kind toward them. That makes them look as bad as any judgmental JW.
