they said on the news this morning that one of the parts on fire hadnt had a fire in forty years, the news for the last couple of years or so has been about fires raging in various parts,as it seems to be an ongoing problem is there no way they can clear some of the areas or make them less fire friendly so it doesnt keep happening?

wha happened?
we had to pass through this on the 14 freeway on the way home from Vgas. We couldn't figure out which route to take as we have to pass throught the mountains to get home. There were fires on each side of the freeway. olice cars, firetrucks and aircraft. Looked like a war zone

What-A-Coincidence
I have the view of Mt. Wilson from my bunker ... seems like the fire hasn't touched it.

Is your bunker literal or imaginary?

I hope you understand that I dislike TBN for reasons other than the fact that it is simply Christian.
There are plenty of committed Christians that despise televangelists, if that's what you're talking about. I didn't assume that your distaste arose from him simply being a 'Christian'.

It's getting really nasty there in Southern California.......there's 'tornado fires' caught on tape due to the horrific conditions. Is there anyone on here who is being affected by the fires??

LEAVING WT- We just had a fire up here this weekend in Nor-Cal in the city of Auburn - a half hour west of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. 60 something homes were destroyed Sunday when high winds blew this fire from 50 acres to about 500 acres in just a few hours. As the fire was right along the Highway 49 through town - they closed it and detoured all traffic. My son and I were going to do a job in an industrial park- but the entry was closed as the fire came within a quarter mile and less of my customers office I clean. So I had to do it early Monday morning- and the CHP's were still only letting people drive into the area who had necessary business. I drove right through where the fire had jumped the road burning buildings, bushes, trees, everything in sight. It had even scorched the road I was driving on the way to the job. Fortunately no one was killed in this fire up here - however with 60 homes destroyed - many peoples lives were destroyed. Fire is a bastard for sure.
I can only imagine what our friends down in So-Cal are going through with the L.A. fire. It's horrific

When I was watching CNN last night, it showed the helicopters with those big bags on them, getting the water out of the lakes to dump on the fires.
The thought occurred to me: Why don't they do this in California BEFORE the fires start? Get the helicopters up there to dump water on the forrests to keep them from becoming tinder dry. This would probably cost several million dollars but it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than the billions of dollars in damage these fires do every year.
And hire people to clear out alot of the underbrush as this seems to be one of the main contributors to the devastating fires they have there every year.
