Every politician on the left, given that he has been influential enough, is accused of something or other that the right calls "treason".
What's so devastating to Ted Kennedy's place in history is that the vast majority of people who are with him on the left would not have voted for him over his skeletons. Both the left and the right can agree that Mary Jo should not have been abandoned.
I can overlook getting a BJ under the desk in the oval office, I can argue against backroom deals like "Arms for Hostages" while deepdown, I know that's the way Washington works so I just eventually overlook that.
Even though Mary Jo was one single person, nothing in comparison to the number of lives lost or gained in politics, she was one single person that Ted abandoned. That's a little bit worse than the Governing Body making decisions about blood and pedophiles based on how many lawsuits there will be and their total devalueing of individual members' lives.

Nice try sir82, but the commentary is based on a Forbes article which is cited in the text. It is linked too. Kennedy's treason is a matter of record from when KGB archives were released after the fall of the Soviet Union (but you already knew that, didn't you?), and his name should only be mentioned in the same breath as Benedict Arnold and Vidkun Quisling.
