I had brought over the Bob & Doug McKenzie album. I thought he would get a kick out of it because it was funny. After about the third skit, he shut it off without saying a word why.

The Pianist,
I went to visit my Mom to go with her to a Circuit Assembly.
We shared a room in the hotel.
We spent an hour trying to decide what movie to rent in the room.
I don't remember all the choices but I do remember even watching a Disney movie was questionable.
I wanted to watch The Pianist, I won, but only for a little while.
She turned it off at the executions.

My parents had my sister-in-law's parents over once when her and my brother were dating. The in-laws were uptight even by JW standards. My brother suggested they watch "A River Runs Through It". They had to shut it off after the scene where they showed the bare asses of the people sunbathing, as my SIL's mom was highly offended by the gratuitous nudity.

once my mother-in-law helped my wife to clean the bedroom, my MIL was wiping the TV screen with cleaner. she turned the on button by mistake, soft porn was playing on the cinemax channel. my wife ran to the TV and shut it off. she downplayed and calmed my MIL (I'm lucky to not have been handed to the elders). but anyway, when TV is off you don't check what movie is playing?

Imagine the horror when my elder brother and his prude wife found the tape I had made from soft porn movies on Cinemax. Not a pleasant experience.

I was with a group of dubs that walked out on a movie. This was years and years ago...I don't remember the movie. It wasn't a blockbuster or anything. I do remember that the scene wasn't all that bad, but we had a wannabe elder in the group and he decided for all of us that it was immoral and we had to leave.
I almost didn't leave, but I was riding with someone and was at their mercy. I sat there while they all made a commotion of getting up and walking out. I waited till they cleared the theater and then I quickly...and most embarrasingly...left.
I've had JW family get offended at my watching the Harry Potter movies. Now knowing that they are offended by them, I wouldn't force them to watch, but in one case, they came over while I was halfway through the movie. They didn't come to see me, they came to see the wife. So I kept watching while my M-I-L kept clucking her tongue and making snide comments thinking I would take her hint and turn it off. When I didn't, she finally left the room. Later I learned that I was the object of quite the conversation alluding to how far I had fallen and was allowing spiritism in my home through these movies.

I have had someone do that with a song. The slimebag that dragged me into the cancer had the song Kodachrome going--about a minute in, I pointed out the fact that the opening line is "When I think back of all the crap I learned in high school, it's a wonder I can think at all". He mentioned that the word "crap" is a very bad word, and raced to turn the record off (and make me throw away my copy of the same record).

He's right, actually. "Shit" would've done a much better job of articulating the artist's meaning.
