I think it is so crazy the type of high standards and complete laco of understanding that goes on when dealing with teens in the congregations. I remember my own experiences, like the first time I got caught smoking cigarettes. You would have thought I was shooting heroin or something. Elder came to the house, mom completely disappointed..I mean c'mon....at least the Amish accept the fact that their teens will get into mischief and they don't make their youth feel absolutely worthless about it. I wonder if people who are JW's realize the effect that type of high moral standard and always falling short of it, does to a persons psyche in the long run....

Amish have it all figured out.
There are Amish around here. I hear that they can buy property from an outsider, but can not sell to an outsider. They don't have electricity, or anything gas powered. They can not own power equipment, but they can use yours as long as you pay for the fuel.
