:Crazy & Irresponsible JW Things We Did

    Here's my experience:

    1. Got up in the morning

    2. Worried all day that Jehovah would probably kill me.

    3. Made sure my conduct served the every whim of a cold-blooded Printing Corporation

    4. Went to bed and slept all night.

Except for #1 and #4, everything else I did was crazy and irresponsible.

I remember going into a house where the man at the door seemed interested. I was 16 and my partner was an 8 year old girl. Fortunately for us, the man was a preacher who intended to straighten out our souls instead of tying us up in the basement and torturing/raping us. Funny, the elder in our group was more concerned with how we handled the preaching we received than how dangerous it was. BTW, I was never warned about entering ANY home where there was interest. So dangerous.

    Agreed.

I'm sooooo glad nothing untoward happened to either of you.

I remember having the chicken pox and being dragged to the memorial only to wait in the car (in my PJs at least.) It was a cardinal sin to miss that one. Even if you had a fever, blisters and were under the age of 10.

What I wouldn't do for a blood transfusion right now!

Thanks Sylvia, but don't speak directly to me. You might get in trouble with the self righteous sisters.

i remember one of my first times out in fs years ago. i had an elderly brother who was a big believer that everyone should hear the good news of the kingdom no matter who they were. so we were working an area that was mostly businesses. we hit this bar, and it was a saturday at lunch time. he says we need to go in. i have no desire to go in and tell him that maybe we should move on. he says he will be brief. we go in, and it is not very busy. only a handful of people there. he asks for the owner, the guy behind the bar stated that he was the owner. the elderly brother offers the magazines and starts his lecture about whatever his presentation was. man takes the magazines and thanks him. we leave. outside the elderly brother says that it was a good call and that for being a bar, it wasnt too bad. he said that he could not understand why a bunch of men would hang around in a bar all day without having any women to talk to and laughs. i did not have the nerve to tell him that very few if any women frequent that type of bar that it was known for being. i would have thought the pink triangle sticker in the window on the door was a sign.

This may be a little off the beaten track, but I know of at least 2 KH constructions where corners were cut on local building codes. Note that these were not quick-builds, either: Done over the space of 3 months or more by local talent on evenings and weekends. The attitude seemed to be that "we know better than some worldly local government people". And, of course, saving money was paramount.

I always wondered how your could possibly do a quick-build and actually get the required inspections done - building homes and commercial buildings in a past life, you had to schedule many times weeks in advance.
