ugh...I just threw up in my mouth hearing that droning condescending...."you are officially a member of this cult and we OWN YOU" baptismal talk.

Hello kurtbethel,
This raises an interesting question.
Suppose someone had a biblical baptism that meets the scritural standards. Then they do a JW study and want to join.
I don't know about people becoming JWs. However, for those leaving I'd say this.
The bible says "believe and be baptised" Mark 16:16 Acts 8:12 Acts 18:8
Since JWs believe in a false Jesus, they cannot be baptised in the His name or Spirit or neither be saved Mark 16:16 Romans 10:9
Once JWs leave the WT, believe and become Christians, they need to be baptised.
All the best,
Stephen

Sic Semper Tyrannis
I remember my pre-baptismal studies. Two of the elders had better things to do and we just whipped through the chapters. But there always seems to be one guy who wants to quiz you like some vengeful professor. At one point I was forced to name all of the sex acts which were forbidden. He seemed to be interested in this, because he was adding more and more after I was done. Now that I look back at it, the guy was probably heavily into porn.

Wow! Old topic! I posted on this THREE YEARS AGO ...
Since we are on the topic, when you are disassociated - your baptism should be voided since at the time you take your oath, you are recognized as a Jehovah's Witness. When you are disassocated, you are publicly announced to be "not a Jehovah's Witness" - thus, making your baptism vow void and null.

I do not agree sacolton. My baptism wasn't for the Society it was in imitation of Jesus' baptism. And as for being a witness, I am still witnessing. As in a "cloud of witnesses".
Imagine a repeat of Naxi Germany. They come looking for the nasty Jehovah's Witnesses. Some one thinks to ask me if I am one (still) as I do not appear to be one. I say "can you be more specific, please?". As I believe John was a witness, I want to be a witness in the likes of John. So I can not honestly say to anyone I am not a Jehovah's Witness. Because I am and I am not.

... but when they publicly announce that "(name) is no longer a Jehovah's Witness." - that in itself makes it clear you AREN'T.

Is that a "bad" joke? Evil laugh.....

What defines a bad joke? One in which I don't know whether to laugh or to worry.

LOL!!! I'd love you to post that list! Did you learn anything new from the elder?
