how cold does it get?
What's the purpose of the jacket you need? Traveling to work? Is it for work? How much are you on the outside?
Do you want it to double for things like skiing, hunting, as well?
Have you considered layering?

I'd say North Face is one of THE best brands.... Which oddly enough was the second answer (possibly helping the case of goodness?). Even though you don't seem to like John he is right about his brands.

Also nobody can tell you what to do unless you let us know how cold it is, if its formal or work, the type of fabric, cut etc.
Unless "winter Jacket" means something else heh heh
