What do Yankees know about the South?

Define Yankee, please. My definition is north of the Mason Dixon, and east of the Mississippi.

I guess the Mason-Dixon line is the "official" designation but the popular frame of reference is the states that were in the Confederacy which excludes Maryland.

Using points east of the river leaves out Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas which are technically part of the South, though I tend to think of Texas as it's own little corner of the world.

Oklahoma, or the Indian Nations during the war, was the only official ally the South had and was considered part of the South, but for all other purposes I consider it mid-west.

I have lived on the west coast all my life and I don't consider myself either one. Yankees are very distinct from the folks out west.

To Southerners, anyone not from the South is technically Yankee...sorry.

I would say any state North of Virginia on the East Coast only. I think getting over toward Ohio/Indiana is getting into the MidWest (but still consider them Yankee's). California is considered a different country to us! lol

This here is the best mayo in the world!

I don't eat it anymore, but when I did, I would open a hot biscuit and spread the mayo between the layers.

    Good!

I knew the answer to #5 Mt Airy because I used to live there.

Hardees had a tomato on a biscuit I was very fond of.

Maybe we need a new thread, "What do [enter any other nationality] think they know about America?"

All I know about the South, is that everyone is related, they all have teeth missing, they eat parts of pigs and chickens I wouldn't give to my cat, they deep fry everything, and they are too lazy to speak clearly.

All very true, but we make it all so enjoyable.

By the way, I tried my first deep-fried Twinkie last year. It was divine! It takes on an entirely different texture/flavor.
