He's left of center but he's definitely not a Socialist. Just look at Canada and all the European countries which while being "leftist" are not Socialists like the Soviet Union was.

As far as Obama disappointing me, I have a different ideology completely different than left-center-right so the issue is technically moot. However I will say that he's doing the best that he can; that he's overextending himself; that he's more sincere than McCain or that abomination Palin and our previous idiot president.

It's hard to create perfection when you were handed a big turd sandwich by the previous administration.

No, because I never expected him to be perfect. But I am pleased with him so far.

He's not nearly Progressive enough for me, but I knew that going in. There are certainly things I have disagreed with him on. There are some areas that he has exceeded my expectations on. Foreign policy wise, I could hardly have hoped for some one better. Finally a level headed dignified representative that's not itching for military actions. It's a damn shame he has to deal with the mess we've got right now, too much cleaning up, and not enough real forward movement.

You mean like Ronald Reagan after Jimmy Carter?

At least Bush kept cigars out of his mouth. And other places...

Disappointed? No. But then, I never really viewed him as being a messiah. But fair or not, his presidency won't be viewed as a success if we're still occupying Iraq, still in a recession, and still have millions of Americans without health care three years from now. These were the biggest issues facing us during the last election.

He's done as well as could be expected considering his background (let the reader use discernment) in addition to the administration he inherited.

Consider the alternative: McCain could've keeled over by now and we'd all be twitching and b*tching about incompetent President Sarah Palin.

I think he personally couldn't possibly be doing any better. He's doing his part. What IS disappointing is the dems in congress who cant get their acts together and get anything done. Truly pathetic, but sadly nothing new.
