Sorry to hear about your sister's loss. I am assuming that she never married and had any kids. If so, it will be a huge loss.

Be as much comfort as you can, just don't mention the elephant in the room.

    Hi Wobble,

Pray that the Holy Spirit gives you the right words.

    Mark 13:11 (New International Version)

... do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

    Proverbs 3:5 (New International Version)

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding

I have a similar situation only last night. I was talking to my neighbour who's father-in-law died that morning. None of the family are Christians so as we talked I asked the Lord to help me with what to say.

Even though I know the father-in-law was not a Christian, I would say this, we cannot say if they went to be with the Lord or not. My wife had been praying for him and who knows if he "called upon the name of the Lord"? Acts 2 Romans 10 Only Jesus can answer that.

I have seen enough testimonies of "near death experiences" from those who were atheists or some other faith beforehand but did indeed get saved as death was upon them.

    All the best,

    Stephen
