I was talking to a JW relative about the borg's claim that JWs are the happiest people. She categorically denied that they ever made such a claim. Does anyone have a reference?

If Watchtower Corp. says their drones are the "happiest people on earth" then they really must be!Unless of course, you're referring to non-JWs, who are often "happier than happiest people on earth".

That's funny. All the ones I ever run into are severely depressed. In all honesty, I cannot really recall anybody who was all THAT happy. Some might have been more popular than others or had a more advantageous circumstance. But, as far as anybody walking around laughing, I don't think so. Just a few phonies.

Thanks a lot Blondie.
She denied it while we were having a heated argument about the high prevalence of mental illnesses among JW. I told her one of the reasons was the "happiest people" claim, people who are depressed feel the need to hide it and she stated that "they never claimed that we are the happiest people instead they believe that we have great satisfaction by serving Jehovah". She was playing with semantics.
For a minute, I thought that maybe I was wrong since I have drifted a long time ago.

Ditto for my family. Especially the women. I find with the men, there is a seething anger lurking closely beneath the veil of happified-ness (this word is for Farkel ).
