When there is an explosion inside a city, a security perimeter is placed, then special teams start digging for survivors and evidence. The perimeter is guarded at all times and no one can enter without authorization. This is the standard procedure everywhere in the world, be it an accidental explosion or a terrorist action.
Well, that is interesting.
I remember being told at the time, that JW's were the only religion that was given "special access" to workers at Ground Zero. Because of the unique brand of "comfort" they brought to the workers.
It would be interesting if this could be confirmed.
I lived in downtown Manhattan. In fact, I was the happiest when I worked for a Wall St. law firm one block from the WTC. I dated there,, bought champagne, did my drycleaning, and, altho I hated its ugliness, I relished the shelter from the weather. Woolworth's was fun to pass through before work. The flames and towers going down could be seen from my corner. Altho I knew the blinkd sheik was up for sentencing, I kept reassuring people that it was just a tiny personal plane and someone had a heart attack, as with the Empire State crash. GMA reported it was a full size commercial liner. Some people ran off b/c they need to be alone. I was so used to NY as a film backdrop. Over the years, I read the scariest books about mass terrorism in NY, esp. on the subway. It was NY-Hollywood. Sitting in a film theatre in NY, I never felt it had anything to do with me.
My vow was not to walk down to the rescue site. The public was forbidden to enter for quite a while. We fielded requests for Vicks Vap O Rub and antheltic socks. My neighborhood park was the closest to the site with public access. To enter my neighborhood, I was screened seriously by NYPD and forced to prove that I lived there. It was dead quiet. Evenings, we held vigils in my local park. There were no cool souvenirs b/c nothing could enter Manhattan. Although I did not smile rotting flesh, the air was almost impossible to breathe, even with a filter. Words can't describe what I saw. Photos can't truly show it.
The major resolve of everyone I remotely knew was to stay away, even as NYers you queue up for every little event. The eerie and spiritual part was the complete politness. NYers were becoming extremely depressed not just from fear but from helplessness. Finally, the public was allowed from a great distance to go down and cheer the rescue workers as they changed shift to lift spirits. I resolved I would stay calm and mature, be a super adult so I took no doctor, money, police officer away from rescue. Traffic moved but no one honked. I was walking to the medical examiner's location and I came upon a massive caravan with FBI, NYPD and other escorts bringing a dead victim to the morgue, which overflowed.
There is no way I can put all my feelings in writing. It was a time to help, to be extra nice to people b/c we were all in hell and under military occupation. The National Guard were not friendly the way the NYPD. One Sunday I took a taxi to my church, next to the Waldorf Astoria, the preferred residence for UN ministers. The bomb squad was out in full force, all these elite German Shepherds were sniffing like crazy and the police were holding machine guns. Normally, I would demand details as a citizen. I told him my church and he said it was safe. Yes, every Sunday my church has an ongoing military presence.
Witnesses lose their humanity. Everyone coughed up money. The few tourists who still came were lavished with affection. Imagine the Witness if they helped the dogs' wounds. I never in a trillion years would believe that NY could rise to the occasion. Three thousand people are under rubble. The Red Cross needed workerss - but not blood. When I discuss it with friends in Seattle, Portland, they tell me how they manned phone banks at the local Red Cross. Did they bring anything special to give the rescue workers a psychologal lift. I am furious. I also tend to not believe that they were allowed up close personal access. No one else did. If we had, those workers would have been given yachts, series tickets for the Yankees, whatever.
I took memorial flowers to the my local fire house, which lost half its members. And I knew them. They stood outside to interact with the public but after five minutes, no chit chat. Sometimes, when family members attended an event, no one was allowed near the firehouse. Finally, I said to the sergeant that checks would be preferrable. The selfishness when selfish, narcissistic people are beyond selfless. What would Jesus do? Those men knew the EPA was lying about conditions, The cancer rate is astronomical and a union source told me those with visible burns were demoted.
iTs the same old story over and over agian.
And when you check the sources its a BIG Lie!
Its the same happend in Haiti or Japan where some diaster happend.
Secret Agent Pioneer can even access the Oval Office and leave a copy of the Truth Book on the Desk and nobody will know they were there....
@Designs LOL!!!!!
Why the lie? A blatant lie that all in the tristate area knows could not happen. Do you truly think that men in special trades working despite knowing their own exposure and without proper equipment, came off duty of prolonged hours and cared about the WTBTS. I suggest that if they even attempted to preach, they would be arrested and ejected. My normal attitude is the police work at my pleasure, I pay them. I like them but citizens have rights. I became totally deferential and worshipful. It was not a police action. The National Guard and State Police were not friendly, business like and would be quick to shoot suspects.
I find it funny that this story does not have rounded numbers for mag placement.
Did they ask them to play bridge after the Witness promo? If they were there and I was there, I'd have my first arrest for assault. First Amendment rights are not limitless. Lincoln suspended our most precious rights during insurrection. We were attacked on our own soil by a foreign element, intent on terrorizing us. Normal times disappeared. I can't get into my apt without much proof and rigamarole but they preached. They would be handcuffed and taken to a jail.
tell this sister she's still got 199 more to go, in order to get her "death memorial" eulogized in Stanley Theater.
Palma Catanzaro, sister of (co) Angelo Catanzaro had close to 200 “recommendation cards” .............. their family also has 2 life stories in previous awakes............... it did not matter that they stumbled 201 people, but they have these“recommendation cards” and that is one buzz word I have not heard in a while
What's a "recommedation card"?
