    Sylvia,
I am NOT judging God, I am judging (your word, not mine) the men who wrote those things, the men that did those things and tried to "justify" them, the men that wrote the rules and regualtions of the OT and old Covenant, those men that got it "so right" that Jesus had to come down in person and say, "NO, that's wrong".

    That's quite alright, PSac.

The point I was trying to make is that the God of the Bible is not averse to cracking heads and kicking butts - even wiping out entire tribes at times.

I have no problem with that.

There are reason and there are excuses, they above from gotquestions, a website I like, is an excuse.

Fact is, God is consistent, he doesn't "change", so when Jesus, the son of God, God in the flesh, says "love your enemy" and does NOT say "wipe them out just in case they come back to steal your falafels", it means what?

God changed his mind? God made a mistake? Jesus made this up as he went along and forgot the past?

Or perhaps MAN decided to view things HIS way and justify his atrocities, HIS way.

Keyzer soze makes a huge point, if OUR sense of moral outrage comes form God ( it certainly doesn't come from Satan) then where did God "screw up" and we got it right ?

That makes it perfectly reasonable to ask such things.

    Ask? Yes, by all means.

    Judge? No, never.

Snowbird, it seems like you still have the basic JW mentality even if your theology is different.

I don't care what his position is or how powerful he is. The killing of innocent babies, by an intelligent being is never justified, it is an abuse of position and power.

Jehovah isnt answerable to us. Even Jesus never turnt against his father, and yet his father asked would he sacrifice his life for US...mere dust who Jesus didnt even know. Thankfully Jesus said yes, and Im thankful to Jehovah for giving us another chance and for Jesus doing such a loving thing for us. Dont let the org or brothers whatever the case maybe turn you aside from Jah.

There is another issue also, one that casts more "doubt" on the understanding of the OT writers in regards to God's will, where the OT writers state that God declares that he is a "jealous God".

Jealousy is a negative emotion, an emotion warned against in scripture, why would God, an all knowing being get jealous? how could he?

The scriptures say Jehovah cannot lie, yet he is perfect so surely everything is possible for him, yet we have to look at what is meant by this, Jehovah is so loving he cannot lie because being evil and nasty isnt in him. Its like people on here, it isnt in them to be pervs, they hate pedo's so it isnt in them to do that.

Jealousy from God wouls be in a proper way...he is perfect but jealousy to us isnt balanced, its not a nice emotion to have.

... except when commanding his servants to kill babies.
