he said "pornography" by far the most vexing problem for them...
Pornography has never been a vexing problem for me...It doesn't bother me to look at it...
But what JimmyPage said is probably correct. The crux of the matter is that too many people are finding "spiritual pornography" in looking at "apostate" websites on the Internet. They've got to continue to demonize the Internet and label it as a tool of Satan meant to distract Jah's people.
The problem is...the Internet is here to stay. It's how people conduct business, communicate, etc. Kids in school are given computer keyboards instead of no. 2 pencils. They will grow up using the Internet as second nature, without thinking about it. Just as my generation was the TV generation and we couldn't conceive of life without the tube, these kids would be lost without the Internet and mobile technology.
It was easy to scare the first generation of users but not people who are growing up with the Internet at their fingertips day and night, at home, at school, at work, on the move. The Society has already lost the battle on this one. Dubs are using the Internet and will continue to do so. More and more of them are overcoming the fear of googling "Jehovah's Witnesses".

This is typical of the WT to treat a symptom and not address the real problem. Why is it that elders might be using porn? That is the question that they should answer. In my opinion, people with well balanced, meaningful lives usually do not rely upon short cuts to satisfaction – pornography, alcohol, gambling, etc. The WT system does not produce well balanced people with meaningful work and lives. There are some who achieve this through their own efforts without any help from the WT. Since the WT system produces such people, almost all communication from them will be symptom focused. Stop this, do that, without any regard to the root causes of the behaviors.

Of more interest to me is their definition of "pornography"? Judging by the over-the-top language in the publications against pornography it seems to be an all-encompassing term that covers anything the organization considers "fleshly".
BTW, it does seem to undersore that the Watchtower's mortal enemy ain't apostasy but sins of the flesh. You're more likely to be called upon to see the elders if you've been alleged to doing naughty things with your body.

... but doesn't the holy spirit pick these Elders (according to the WT)?
Oh, your copy of the Watchtower must be...er....stained. It is the horny spirit which picks elders.

Yep that about sums it up - God bless the internet and all who apostasize because of it!

Bethel comes down on the elders about wife swapping and not molesting little kids.

Porn IS a big problem with elders.
The GB, truly NON inspired (as it turns out) is acting totally naive. They are stuck in a cyclical black hole of banning and demonizing more behavior till they pretty much rule out most men as being qualified as an elder.
This cycle of losing elders continues to plague the borg.
Ex elders, not having any reason not to, probably watch more porn, not less. Also, if they are watching porn, do you really think they give a damn about staying away from apostate websites?
Hello to any porn viewing ex elder lurkers! You are not alone...
