You should have shown up in only those two items the next meeting. ;-)

    LOL.

I was trying too hard to hang on to what I thought was "the real life"!

    Boy, have I learned.

Sylvia, I'd like to know where the scriptures show jehovah's specific requirements.

Irrev, you don't think they might've been right?

    Oh the irony....I R O N Y!!!!

Just dawned on me. We were counseled about going to "Happy Hours." The elder that initiated the meeting, not a JC, was a newbie. A few years back he was removed for alcohol abuse. He actually gave an apology from the platform.

It is always the ones over anxious about the perceived naughtiness that have giant skeletons in their closets.

Those that obsess seem to have their own demons.

Minimus, there are no specific requirements, but the elders throw in 1 Timothy 2:9 and 1 Peter 3:1-4, mix with a little advice on not stumbling others, and voila! you feel like a crushed reed!

As an elder, I would NEVER counsel anyone unless I was strong-armed into it by the BOE. So there was this guy in my book study that had the fashion sense of Pee Wee Herman and I got pegged with "counseling" him. What a waste of breath. I was nice. He was nice. He kept dressing like Pee Wee and everybody always looked forward to seeing his next outlandish bit of apparel.

I never saw why some elders would counsel a sister for wearing a dress with a slit to the knee yet someone who wore a skirt to the knee or slightly above was not counseled. Usually the slitted dress was very long and covered nearly all the legs.

min, actually not. I was always respectful of the elders and never interfered in their foolishness. The elders never had anything specific or details to share with my poor hubbie. The elders who brought that up were controlled and manipulated by their wives.
