    I was just wondering.....

Do they cover the mirrors with paper at the BethHell hair salon?

    ROFL!

Considering how cheap the WTS is, they probably don't even HAVE any mirrors in the salon!

What about Full-Brazilians? Anyone know if the sisters shave the kitty?

rebel8, Just to clarify the policy as it was while I was in bethhell, hair dye is certainly allowed (but not kool-aid colors) for men or women. It was just that older sisters were permitted to get their hair colored by the staff in the bethhell beauty shop during the regular hours of the workday. This "provision" wasn't available to the less old. Younger sisters would have to do it on their own. I think they were even allowed time to do it in the salon after hours when one of the staff was available to open the door for them. I really don't remember. Older sisters were allowed to make beauty shop appointments every week. Younger sisters were every three weeks or so.

So, the policy makes sense on paper. After all, how many JW women can afford to go out to a beautician regularly to get their hair colored? So, they should just do it at home, right? Well, if these young sisters were low seniority, no private bathroom. So then, if they can't do it in the salon after hours and they don't have a private bath, are they supposed to use the public bathroom down the hall to dye their hair? That's where the policy doesn't make sense. Also, it would make it tough when one of the sisters would be willing to shell out to get a good color for a special occasion. They would have to take personal time from an already busy schedule and spend their limited reimbursement to go out to a salon.

Us guys had free haircuts every three weeks. Some barbers were better than others and you certainly didn't get to choose who you got to do your cut. I rarely got a bad haircut... now I have to pay and certainly can't afford to go every three weeks. Some of the guys got consistently bad haircuts. I never figured that out. Of course lots of the guys didn't have much to cut. And there were a few "dome wraps" that were hideous.

It was just one of the millions of Bethel rules. Not the worst rule. Among the worst rules were some of the dress codes. Those were totally nutty sometimes.

Oh man, what a load of absolute crap!
If they don't want anyone focusing "too much" on their appearance, why not do away with the "salon" altogether? After all, you wouldn't want to be cause for stumbling ... right?

Right. They could just issue a pair of those blunt scissors they use in kindergarten and everyone could cut their own!

Billy-this anecdote wasn't pertaining to US Beth-Hell. Maybe it was different?

rebel8, I can't speak for other Bethhell's rules. I don't know of any that outright ban hair coloring. But I do know of some that have no private baths. They suck.
