I had a brother approach me once to tell me I was too friendly. I had the habit of greeting everyone I could in the time provided before the meeting. It was done sincerely and with personal interest. The brother said it came of insincere and irritated people. I wondered about that and cooled it a bit until people started asking me what was wrong. I went back to being friendly. Because friendliness is uncommon, let alone civility at premeeting times, I was told to become like the negative others. So glad I don't attend anymore. Seldom was the friednliness returned beyond the meeting. What of you? Did you ever find that your efforts fell flat due to the tone of the congregation? W.Once

wasaneldersonce..how on earth can they say your too friendly!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr we NEED that, there isnt enough hugs because too many ppl think things are going on between you if you hug!! WOT!!!!!! i dont care ...i hug, annoys me so much.

I brought this up on my thread regarding what were you counseled for? I was told I was too friendly, smiling, not as "serious" as I should be for a prospective MS. Not long after, the congregation wanted the old Minimus back.

My ex used to hug a sister who we were good friends with her and her hubby.
One time another sister came up to me and asked if it bothered me that my hubby and this sister always hugged when they saw each other.
I said, "No it doesn't. So it shouldn't bother you, either."
I smiled when I said it, but I hope she got the point.
I'm a hugger and a verbal appreciater. I had it beaten out of me when I was in the Org but I'm finding it easy to get back to who I really am.

I was counselled for smiling at brothers. Too distracting, apparently.
You know - you just have to laugh sometimes when you look back and realize how you really thought this was the Truth.
