Just a little observation: Have you noticed that the 'sisters' pictured in the magazines invariably wear long, long skirts? Check out the Feb 1st issue. Even the housewife at the sink washing dishes has an ankle length skirt.
Do you think they're playing safe in the Writing Dept by not arousing the Pharisees amongst the elders who STILL measure sisters' skirts?
Cheers, Ozzie

Interesting observation ... as you know, NOTHING that appears in an illustration in one of their books or magzines is inadvertent...it's all done by (excuse the phrase) committee.
The "Nutter" Center, on the campus of Wright State University is where the JW's hold their district assembly for this neck of the woods.
I dropped larc off at the arena this past August; and I did observe that 2/3 of the female attendees wore ankle-length skirts.
What's ironic to me is that back in the mid-60's I was admonished, after wearing an ankle-length, floral print skirt to a meeting, that it was too 'hippie' looking! Ha,ha.
The skirt thing is probably the female equivalent to beards with brothers. Both are complete non-sense and emphasize the control this cult seeks to exercise in people's lives.
I have found that generally sisters here wear whatever the general fashion dictates, since this is generally what is available in clothing stores.
Most women dress the way they want and there is very little anyone can do to change that. I'm pretty sure they don't look to "Awake" magazine for fashion advice.
