There are hundreds of prophecies in Bible so the odds are that at least one of them has come true. But which one has?

Some of the prophecies that are pretty hard to account for except that they show the foreknowledge of God are: 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12, Matthew 26:15-16), bought potter field (Zechariah 11:13, Matthew 27:3-10), Jesus spit upon (Isaiah 50:6, Matthew 26:67-68), innocent one wounded for the guilty (Isaiah 53:5, Luke 22:64), Messiah to be executed by crucifixion although Jews executed their own by stoning (Psalm 22:16, Zechariah 12:10, 13:6, John 20:25-29), Messiah executed with criminals (Isaiah 53:9-12, Mark 15:27), Messiah's clothing to be gambled over for ownership (Psalm 22:18, John 19:23-24).

More assumptions:

1) The writers of the gospel accounts accurately wrote what really took place

2) They were not inclined to "twist the facts a bit" to make it look like what they wrote fulfilled prophecy.

Once again, many bible scholars would dispute that.

For example, suppose the price paid to Judas was really 25 silver pieces. Might not a writer think "wouldn't it make a better story if I write 30 instead of 25?"

What evidence can you supply that your assumptions are correct?

Some came true in the same manner that some of Nostradamus' came true. Anyone can prophesy and have some come true, particularly if the terminology is vague.

The BIG question I never asked as a JW was "when were the prophecies written?"

There is no evidence that Daniel was finalised prior to around 200BC or that the gospels were written prior to 70AD and considerable evidence that they were written after these dates. Therefore the most compelling prophecies are not prophetic at all.

There are some issues with the OT prophecies about the Messiah. There are no contemporary recorded accounts of Jesus' birth, life, and death. The closest we have are the Gospels, and the oldest copies date to the second century--100+ years after he allegedly died. This is plenty of time for the authors to write about his birth, life, and death in such a way that made him appear to fulfill the OT prophecies.

The fact that there are contradictions among the various Gospels adds to the likelihood that they were embellished stories.

Following Ockham's razor, it is much more likely that something like this happened.

So, I guess that prophecy came true.

I have never seen any "prophecy" in the bible that could even be interpreted in any solid way.

Regarding the "creation of Israel"... if that really was a prophecy about the events in 1947, then the bible should have read something like:

In November 1947 the United Nations will decide to make a partition of Palestine into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem. [15] Partition will be accepted by Zionist leaders but rejected by Arab leaders leading to the 1947–1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine . Israeldeclared independence on May 14, 1948 and neighboring Arab states attacked the next day.

However, the bible does NOT read like that. Instead it is vague and open to a thousand different interpretations.

I'll give you an example: On an interesting note, the bible does say: "I will gather you...". Now consider that the quote above says that the UN created the Jewish State, this means that if the bible is referencing the events in 1947, the bible is saying that the United Nations is God.

This was fulfilled when the nations took up arms against those in the Middle East, led by A (so-called) Christian nation. (On account of my name)

This created civil unrest against those in the Middle East and they took up arms against one another (betray and hate one another)

Here is the biggest problem with the above presupposition that every gospel author and every epistle writer lied to turn human Jesus into Messiah Jesus: There are NO extant personal letters, copies of personal letters, or official documents from the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd century from eyewitnesses that dispute that Jesus was born, lived, and died according to the details of the widely circulated gospels. Such a lack of refutation is all but inconceivable if all the Messianic details had been fictionalized by the those alleged liars called the apostles.

In almost all conspiracies in human history the truth and charges of falsification are left behind by the eyewitnesses. There is virtually none with regard to the gospels and the epistles, suggesting that the apostles told the scrupulous truth. In fact, those who knew the apostles or their associates identify that the four gospels were already commonly known and in use by the 2nd century AD (see the Canon of Muratori, a letter from Clement of Alexandria, and the writings of Irenaeus). If the four gospels were already in common use by the 2nd century AD then they had to have been written before that time , which means that eyewitnesses of the events could have read them, critiqued them, and objected if they were in error. Such objections simply do not exist while thousands of copies and fragments of the gospels do.

In truth, there is more hard extant evidence that the gospels and epistles are eyewitness accounts of what actually occurred than exists to against them. Virtually all that is used to challenge the validity of the gospel and epistle accounts are the evidence-poor and unproven aspersions of modern critics.
