I have never heard of a 'single' CO here in the states. It just plain doesn't happen - as it is a requirement for them to be married - so they have better qualifications to 'lead' the flock.

Actually, the last CO in the circuit I attended was single. But it is rare.

One of the best things you can do for a man is teach them how to do laundry. My older sisters taught me when I was about 12. Now, I won't let anyone else touch my laundry.

Wow, buddy if it was me I would have told the CO to go pound sand and get a real job. Any husband who would not tell a CO or anyone else for that matter to speck off, needs to grow some short hairs.

I have heard of CO's asking for people to pay for their dry cleaning, do some alterations, etc., but laundry is kinda personal. Why, on earth, do grown men want to live such dependent lives?

So why was the CO bypassing the "scriptural" head of the family and going directly to the wife with such a request? My ex, who the elders considered to be a very "unsubmissive wife", would have told him straight that he should get my approval first.

Even though I never heard of anything this nervy, I am not surprised it happened. I always heard the constant appeals for money to pay for the COs expenses and also appeals for people to give dinners. But never this. Personally, I would be ashamed to ask somebody to do this for me and I wash my own undies in the sink. I would make it my business to ask around for a decent laundromat to do the big stuff.

Maybe, just MAYBE I could accept the brother HIMSELF asking to use somebody's machine but he would do it himself. I think it is rather personal to do laundry. Besides, who the hell wants to see his dirty drawers? Not me.

Even the old Borgbot me would've been disturbed by such a request...

The current me would have told him to eff off.

Washing 'smalls', as LouBelle put it, is a no brainer. When I was on the road I carried a mesh bag and took it in the shower and washed my smalls inside with hotel shampoo. Rinse, wring, roll them in a towel and hang on the curtain rod. Ready to wear the next AM. Made me feel at home even in a Hilton. Always had the ironing board set up too.
