CO asked my wife to wash his laundry...

Ewwwww (and peace to you, dear Alby!). Second, was there some reason he couldn't wash his OWN chonies? I mean, he certainly could'a used my machine (that would have been ME "doing good" to him - letting him use my water, electricity, soap, etc.). But what was wrong with HIS hands... his "humility monitor" (i.e., "he that wants to be the greatest among you must be the least")... and so HIS "service." Did he not think your wife had enough of her own work to do?

Back then I would have kindly said, "You are QUITE welcome to come over on [blank] night, brother, and either I or "husband" can show you how to use the machines (I'm thinkin' he'd need to know how to work the dryer, too, yes?). Matter of fact, you and "husband" can have a Coke/Corona and a chat, and the kids and I'll just get on out of you boys' way, you know, go see a (G-rated) movie... or visit a sick/elderly sister."

TODAY, I would say the same thing AND "You know, brother, most dry cleaners also do laundry. They charge by the pound and since you probably don't have a lot, it shouldn't be too expensive. Here's $20."

    Really.

    I bid you all peace.

    A slave of Christ,

SA, who's thinking "rachafracha 'Pharisee,' thinking 'sisters' have nothing better than to do his dirty laundry" and "rachafracha 'sisters' for LETTING guys like him THINK it"...

A guest: I would very nicely and politely explain him the same point today.....

but that happened 9-10 years ago when I was a completely brainwashed, not able to think and make my own decisions for myself when it came to JW life and issues.

It seemed to me kind a weird at that time... BUT HE WAS THE C.O.!!!!! HE WAS THE GIFT FROM JEHOVAH!!!!! WHAT A PRIVELEDGE TO SERVE HIM .... WE JUST GO TO WORK EVERY DAY 10 HOURS AND THEN MUST TAKE CARE OF THE HOUSE, BUT HIM.... HE MUST GO OUT IN SERVICE EVERY DAY FOR 4 HOURS AND THEN RELAX HOME AND MEDITATE ON SPIRITUAL ISSUES.... WHAT A BLESSING TO SERVE HIM!!!!!!!

Yes, I humbly admitt, I was complete idiot...

Good grief, surely a grown man would know how to wash his own clothes? No way would I ever make someone else wash mine. I'd sooner hand wash them myself if I had no washer! Sheer cheek asking someone else to do your laundry.

OK...when I was young, married with 3 small children and in for about 2 or 3 years, a sister asked if I would help her do her ironing as she was going to pioneer and wouldn't have the time. I offered as my way to help further "God's word". It was also to help pay for her gas(my payment was ironing) when she gave me a ride to field service or meetings. (I shortly got my own car ).

The brothers found out about this and had a fit. No way was it OK for her to take advantage of me in the name of helping further "God's work". We should help take others out in service or to meeting for free! She was to pay me or not let me do it.(Ironing) Well she stopped having me do it. She got her nose out of joint over it for a while. I think the sister that I was doing laundry for that was paying me turned her in. They never did get along, I think they had been in the same juvenile home when they were younger before they both became witnesses and didn't hit it off. They still didn't get along after becoming witnesses.

    True story, really.

    Snoozy..

So I guess that was wrong to ask someone to do their laundry as long as they were fit to do so....

I remember offering to help a sister when she had a operation one time. She was to take it easy for two weeks and she knew she was going in hospital beforehand.

But I though she may need help with laundry or shopping or cooking. She told me she needed her kitchen floor cleanned. I said OK..I swept it and looked for the mop and she says, Oh No. I clean it on my hands and knees, with a rag, and then I rinse it a few times and dry it with a towel...

That was not fun!..I only did my floors that way once a year...mopped in between.

I was exactly the same, I thought they needed tea in bed in the morning, we waited on them hand and foot.

I thought it was so spiritual, having the CO to stay, they did thank us for our hospitality and asked to stay with us each time they returned, that was for 7 years.

We must have spent a fortune on them, just one elderly sister used to give us a home-made cake for them to eat with the tea.

BUT we didn't do their laundry, the CO's wife did that in our washing machine and drier.

I'm not surprised, this is the same religion that trys to make you feel it is a 'privilege' to clean their bathrooms.

For punishment, my parents once made me sit in the car, while the rest of the bookstudy got to go in and clean the hall.

do a co's laundry - and he will know where to go next time round. teach a co "how" to do it himself and he prolly won't know you next time round.

not quite the same as the fish story is it. oh well>

Why is this man incapable of taking care of his own laundry? Oh, yeah, he's on "a mission from God..."

This elder is a real schmuck and needs some payback.

Go to a hardware store or an car parts store and find a small car-body fiberglass repair kit.

Wash the COs laundry with the sheet of fiberglass fabric from that kit and set the fill level to one-half or less. Every piece of clothing so treated will become an undetectable, invisible deluxe itch-factory that will drive him mad with constant discomfort ALL OVER HIS BODY. He will have to throw out all the clothes and buy new replacement clothes.

After you do this, run your washing machine through at least three full-capacity cycles with no clothes to make sure that any remaining glass fibers get flushes down the drain.
