i dont like fruit cake much so usually we have one of these, looks like theyre coming back into fashion if the telegraphs
giving them as a crimbo recipe.

baked alaska
sponge icecream meringue and baked in a very hot oven, done in minutes and can keep in the freezer if you pre make it , and you can keep it in the freezer after its cooked if you cant eat it all at once.

Ahhh yes, I know baked Alaska. I just never associated it with Christmas. I was thinking Plum Pudding or something very British. Kippered Herring tart maybe.

i'm not overkeen on chrismas pudding, not overkeen on fruit cake so a few years back i started making these instead.
you can flambee em, but we dont tend to bother with that bit
