Here's what worked for me. When they came I asked if they were JWs. When they said yes I responded, "I want nothing to do with a cult that protects child molesters." Without another word they turned and left. My neighbours were also aware of my former JW involvement and the reasons why I left the cult. Any time I saw JWs on that street for the next 3 years I lived there the JWs stayed on the other side of the street.

    "....but is friendly...."

That's her mistake. JW's deprived of any interest will misconstrue a normal greeting as, "OMJG! They said hi. They must be interested in a bible study!"

My PT told me he has a sure fire cure to keep the JW's from even knocking at the door. He makes a chaulk-line of a body on his sidewalk, with a WT next to it, and then sprinkles some red paint on it. Well, that's what he says. lol

Be polite. Just say you're not interested and "I really don't mean to hurt your feelings, but I'd prefer that you don't come by anymore. I'm sure you understand. I can get all the information about your faith I need right here if I choose:"

and then hand him a slip of paper with this url on it:

    But don't slam the door.

Be direct and let them know that you have no longer want them to stop, that you know they will respect your request. Then if they come back don't answer the door.

Here's what I plan to do when the dubs visit me again:

    parakeet: "Are you Jehovah's Witnesses?"

dub: "Oh, uh, ah, well, we're just in your area to discuss the Bible and its message of hope with you and your neighbors." [remember, dubs are instructed by the WTS not to let on that they're dubs; at least, not at first.]

parakeet: "I can see the Watchtowers from here. Are you, in fact, Jehovah's Witnesses?"

dub: "Well, yes we are, but our message ...... "

parakeet: "The very first question I ask you, you lie by omission. I don't want to be associated with people whose first impulse is to lie."

    [dubs leave in disgrace.]

    The end.

If you identify yourself as an apostate, chances are good that they will not be going back. If, every time they do, you discuss something about how the witlesses do not abide by the Bible or tamper with their Bible, they are more likely to quit. However, as an incident involving a former poster getting continually harassed despite repeated warnings and No Trespassing signs (and he was a well known apostate), results are not guaranteed.

If they persist despite knowing you are an active apostate, that is a bad sign. According to their own rules, they can get disfellowshipped just for speaking to a known apostate--if they are willing to risk that, they are not going to let such a little thing as a No Trespassing sign stop them. A warning that, if they continue harassing you, they will have the cops called on them (and make good on it if they persist), should stop them. If even this doesn't work, they might be in for some jail time.

Or, you can argue with them. Use the Bible itself to prove their core doctrines wrong even from the Bible, and do not accept their stock proofs. You are in for some serious arguments, and will probably not win them. What you will accomplish in doing this is waste their time--and possibly ruin their whole day in field circus.

from a previous thread of mine-

    --------------------------------------------------------------

I have given this out many times but darn if I didn't save it somewhere so I have to keep retyping it, so here it is. I have sent the letter to the local kh & NY and told my jw to keep them away and still the persist. The wt considers the letter good for only one year. Many kh's do not have mailboxes so if you attempt to sent locally it will be returned to you.
