Regardless of whether it is dangerous or not, studies do not support the conclucion that it actually works, for both the regular and H1N1 vaccine.

My 10 year old got the nasal spray for H1N1 and my wife and I got shots. We are doing fine- no problems from the regular flu shot either.

What studies would they be then?

I don't get flu shots and I won't get the H1N1 shot either.

I'm not in a high risk group so I don't see the need in taking a shot that could have gone to someone in the high risk group.

I would take it, my wife got the vaccination and I didn't. Guess which one of us got the H1N1 flu? If you guessed my wife, you guessed wrong. The H1N1 is no joke, it sucks royally. I didn't know it was possible to be as cold as I was while still sweating profusely. I had asthma at one time and the H1N1 was the first thing to bring out an asthma attack in me since I was 14.

For starters, this one here: http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/35/2/337

    And here: http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/333/7574/912

As discussed in this article in The Atlantic: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200911/brownlee-h1n1

It's not my intention to undermine the seriousness of the flu by any means, but that people put too much faith in vaccines with thin evidence and do not take basic precautions that really do make a difference and are undebatable, like not touching your face, covering your mouth, washing hands, or staying home.

From everything I've read, it doesn't seem likely that the H1N1 vaccine presents any significant risk of harm, but that its efficacy is highly questionable. If you want to get the vaccine, go ahead, but illness prevention doesn't stop there by any means. Also, remember that they don't know what you have unless they take a swab and test it. Flu has nothing to do with the cold, which also causes flu-like symptoms. There are also a few hundred flu virus strains, and the vaccine seeks to prevent a few of them. Also, your immune response to the vaccine may be on par with your response to the flu itself... so for me, I don't think I'm going to get it. It's a personal decision. Just don' t get swept up in the media frenzy--fear sells.

Judge, would you mind explaining why you say no? since I'm leaning more towards no also?

The possible side effects are not worth it, in my opinion.

Whether someone else had a bump, or a sore arm is not going to help me, if I happen to have a severe reaction.

I'll take my chances with the flu, IF I get it.

You're not in the high risk group. Given the shortages, I'd pass and let those more at risk have it.

If the flu has been through your area, either you are immune (especially if you already had it) and will not get it, or you missed your chance to get it. Either way, the shot would be simply a waste of money and time. And, with little or no benefits, there is always the risk from the poisons that come with the shot.

True, if everyone was immunized, it would reduce my chances of getting it. That is why I take coconut oil, vitamin C, vitamin D, alpha lipoic acid, and astragalus (while it's still legal). That not only works on swine flu, but it works on colds, regular flu (even the ones that the vaccine does nothing against), Spanish flu, bacterial infections, and even bird flu. I took that last year, and got the No Flu--the one where you don't get it.

Are you talking about the seasonal flu or swine flu (I haven't read both pages). I currently have swine flu, and after a quick trip to urgent care on Monday night, apparently close to pneumonia. Been on steriods, some serious antibiotics, and cough meds ever since. Been off work for two weeks. This is nasty and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. This is also a pandemic. If you are in a high risk group please do consider getting the shot.
