Can You Spot a JW in a Crowd?

There are two types of JW's, the smug, and the scared.

When an elder takes out a family to Dunkin Donuts, and the family looks relieved to be inside, while the elder looks "elderish", easy as pie. Whenever you see suits and ties at any fast food restararaunt, how can you not think of JW's?

The other dead giveaway is that most people in business suits are actually engaging in business. Thus, they are to themselves, in their own head, and aren't looking for anyone or any attention.

A JW in a business suit has head up, looking for someone to irritate and start a conversation with.

They tend to look like Outlaws Polaroid of a JW.... ;)

Yes, most of my sightings have been at Walmart. And I think I saw one at RC Wiley.

I went to the Apostanoodle a couple of weeks back, great fun ! Before we all met I was waiting in the Pub, just nursing a pint ( honest) , waiting for the "appointed time" . So I thought I would play "Spot the ex-JW" as I only had seen a photo of two of the guys going and hadn't met any of the others.

I picked out "Mickey Mouse" in the pub.

I suppose it was a bit " elementary my dear Watson " as she was on her own and looked terribly respectable and nice, bit of a giveaway.

Ha ha! Not sure how to take that! Do I look like a JW or an ex JW? Old habits die hard I guess.

I was leaving the local community college campus after class, and saw four adults in dresses and suits getting into a car. I didn't see a bookbag with them; that would have been a dead giveaway. They might not have been dubs. But it was certainly possible that they'd just done some time at their booth on campus. They didn't recognize me, so that was good...

Yes, one time I worked with a new guy joining me long time ago at the Shipping Dock, he did not tell me he was a witness at first, but he did act like he is a witness, so I asked him if he is a witness, he was very surprised that I asked him that question. He said YES. Yes, I can spot a JW in a crowd. It is all about mannerisms, usually.

Maybe not in a crowd..but definately in a traffic jam. They would be the van with 25 people in dress clothes.

My husband and I always play 'spot the JW' at Tim Horton's. He'll say...there comes a couple.

Me, ...hmmm...no...the woman has on pants or the man has a mustache or nope that man doesn't have a suit coat on. ...Sorry no way, they just got out of a 2 door car.

If they are out in field circus, I can tell them apart by the way they move and look. Usually, they will be moving very slowly and not very deliberately, and are likely to spend more time in their cars after one side or section of a street than actually knocking on doors. And they will have their suit and tie (or dress), no matter what the weather (men do have a little liberty in some areas to take the sweat box off in very hot or muggy weather, but the top button has to stay done).

Yeah, I play 'spot the jw' on Sundays when we go to lunch at restaurants prior to going shopping.

I've been away for over 20 years now, but am pretty good at it.

As others have said - siuts and ties - but after the meetings, the coats often-times come off. Hair, length of hair - facial hair - or lack thereof (moustaches are okay - but beards are not).

    The womenfolk - dresses - many ankle-length.

The kiddos - dresses (girls) and miniature suits (boys).

My wife tells me... but they could be Catholics. I will say.. "Maybe... but they look too jw-ish."

Women wearing pantsuits is a dead giveaway that they aren't jws.

    Regards,

    Jim TX
