love that - if a date said that to me, my response would just be I dont have any vacancies for a friend right now.. lol.
I agree with Yknot. Be his friend but he gets no benefits. *wags finger*
I agree with Ynot? Elsewhere's idea that a little flirting and 'fooling around' is 'no big' is obviously coming from a male! No appetizers until they have indicated they are interested in the entree.
Why should the flirting and fooling around get going when HE sets the "just friends" groundrules? Until that is clarified, no complimentary nachos for you buster!. Otherwise, I think a woman should hold him to the just friends status. Make him beg.
This kind of topic always reminds me of one of my all time fav movies, "When Harry Met Sally".
I hear ya'll!
Gregor, I like the "make him beg"

Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.
Sally Albright: What if THEY don't want to
