In the old days, this wasn't so unusual.
Half of them, at least, would have died.
My grandfather was one of 10--that made it. Total in all was 19.
Actually, could have been 29, come to think of it, with miscarriages and everything. My GP once told me she had 19 abortos (involuntary).
Apparently, my great grandfather would come home in a sprightly mood from the neighborhood bar.

My mom was one of 14. One was still born. 1 died at age 12. 12 grew to adulthood. It wasn't unusual back then.
