I think that With Rutherford, many changes came that had to do with his wanting control and prestige greater than what Russell had.
It was under his watch that the door-to-door crap started, that whole 1914 got blown out of whack, the banning of Christmas and such.

I believe that it was - certainly, Rutherford did a completely ruthless campaign agains the former Russellite independent bible study congregations, the elective elders, and so on. All in the name of centralized control -- and the "only under the WT" idea is central to that.
Rutherford tried to spin peoples heads 180 degrees in the opposite direction against the largely establish Christian based faiths
already established and circumvent the suggestion that the only true worship toward god had to come from his own devised religion only.
Only problem is he in doing so he created himself is own discriminatory falsehoods. Most are still adhered to today by the modern JWS.
This proclamation of being the only organization that god approves and is being guided as such has brought on its own forwarding and evolving problems.

Raising an eyebrow is risky business in a high control group. The organization is in decline though and I would not dismiss the effects of all the recent changes in doctrine.
No, there is no limit, there will always be mentally ill people who suffer from varying degrees of religiosity. Just feel sorry for them as you close the thread and hope they get on the right meds!
Want to figure out the difference between new light, apostasy, and truth? Use this simple WT formula:
Step 1: New Light arrives. Current New Light is now truth. Previous (obsolete) New Light is now apostasy (though it wasn't while we were teaching it). Future New Light (i.e. running ahead of Jehovah's chariot) is not yet Current New Light and therefore apostasy.
Step 2: Future New Light becomes Current New Light, replacing current Current New Light, which is now obsolete (apostasy).
Step 3: Previous New Light (apostasy) becomes Future New Light (still apostasy until becoming Current New Light).
Step 4: Repeat from Step 1 until brain implodes.
